$256,000 SPENT ON MAYOR'S TRAVEL | As the city looks for cuts to reduce a huge deficit, proposed budget calls for a 25 percent reduction in travel for the mayor, council and city executives.
The Spurs are not moving. A re-vote is not happening. The Council majority will override the misguided few. The Arena will be built because it has to be. From Hemisfair till now, visionaries have always had to overcome naysayers. It’s just part of it. Don’t let it raise your blood pressure. Relax, enjoy your weekend. #7-4 Final
San Antonio already voted on the arena. Holding another election isn’t free, it will cost San Antonio taxpayers $2M and comes as the City faces a budget deficit.
Instead of spending time and taxpayer resources on an election that already happened, the Mayor should be focused on balancing the budget.
Hi @Mayor_GOJ (@GinaOrtizJones)!
I’m one of your constituents. I live in San Antonio’s city limits, I’m one of your voters. Plus you follow me which was weird to see, so I’m hoping you see this.
You’ve lost me entirely and that’s kind of a bummer.
Firstly, let’s get the gimmick out of the way - yes I run a spurs-themed account on here and yes I’m obviously biased, but let’s put some of that aside and have a real earnest conversation.
I voted for you in 2025 and the fact that me saying this in public will almost certainly result in hate comments below is sad. (I also voted yes for the Spurs arena so everyone calm down.)
I really like this immovable vibe you have. I just wish you directed that energy onto other issues. I get that budgets and arena deals are big picture and have trickle-down effects onto citizens, but there are real and practical issues facing this city that you could have a real impact on if you channeled that energy into those things.
We had to move houses within San Antonio because of gun violence. Poverty is out of control. City construction is ridiculous. Local businesses struggle to make it.
And yet you go after nonprofits, threatening funding loss (even calling them the “fat” of the budget which was upsetting to hear). You go after a voter-approved Spurs arena citing budget concerns (that seem to be misinformation or at the very least omission of real information). You do all of these things that *may* have impacts on a spreadsheet, but you’ve forgotten the people’s immediate needs and are instead choosing to focus on things the people do not support.
The people need you to represent them.
I hope you come around and be the mayor I voted for in 2025.

Technically, there is a path to recall Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones under the San Antonio City Charter.
It requires a citizen petition with valid signatures from roughly 10% of qualified citywide voters.
If enough signatures are verified, the voters get the final say in a recall election.
She will never be on board with our @spurs
