Elias: Why does California have signature matching? They have it to satisfy the same right-wing zealots who claim there’s fraud, right?
So they do this whole kabuki theater that takes all of this time in order to contend with the fact that people say that if you don’t do signature matching, there’s going to be fraud. And then they get attacked for taking the time to do that very thing.
The fact that the New York Times thinks there’s a middle ground here… Here’s my message: I don’t compromise with Republicans because there is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist, and they are trying to burn down democracy.
Instead of discussing how Elon Musk is now the world's first trillionaire, we should talk about how he killed hundreds of thousands of people through his dismantling of food and medical aid to poor countries

Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500.
If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.
RFK Jr has cut Alzheimers research.
Alzheimers.
One of the most devastating, urgent and increasing health problems we face today.
He's not interested.
He's a nasty piece of work.
With all the corruption flooding out of this administration, you may have missed this one.
The Trump DOJ just killed a criminal investigation into the coal empire owned by Senator Jim Justice, a Republican and one of Trump’s closest allies.
Prosecutors and EPA investigators were probing whether his family’s mining companies criminally violated the Clean Water Act after racking up tens of thousands of alleged pollution violations over the past decade. The arsenic and other dangerous chemicals coal mines leach into our water are exactly what these laws exist to stop.
Career prosecutors believed they had a strong case.
They had begun gathering evidence and issuing subpoenas. Then the Deputy Attorney General’s office, run at the time by Todd Blanche, told them “pencils down.” A former prosecutor of 24 years said he had never heard of a criminal probe being shut down like this. There should be no untouchables list.
This is the pattern, plain as day.
Go after the President’s enemies, protect his friends. And now Trump wants to make Blanche his permanent Attorney General.
The man who shut this down should not be running the Justice Department. For this and so many other reasons, Todd Blanche must not be confirmed.

.@JamesTalarico: There's been a lot of talk in this race about what it means to be a real man.
Recently on the campaign trail I told the story of my adoptive dad, Mark Talarico. Every Saturday morning, he would mow our lawn, and then without anyone asking him to, he would go next door and mow our neighbor's lawn because she was a widow. My dad never talked about it — he just did it, because that's what a man does.
A man takes responsibility, upholds his commitments to his family and his neighbors, and does what's right, even when no one is watching.
Here's what real men don't do. They don't lie and cheat their way through life, sell their soul to the highest bidder, or steal from other people in order to enrich themselves. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.
I welcome this debate about what it means to be a man, and I don't think Ken Paxton or Ted Cruz are in a position to tell anybody what a real man is.
Buttigieg: We didn't know it, but we've all been trusting our lives to the restraint of whoever the president might be. And now we have a president who is completely unrestrained. And so the only answer to that is a functioning Congress.
It turns out we do not have a functioning Congress. The House of Representatives is not representative. One of the most important organs of our democracy is not democratic.
They say, "Oh, no. We're not manipulating the map to disempower black people. We're manipulating the map to disempower Democrats who happen to be black people.”
So, the time has come to make it impossible to manipulate the map for any reason and just have fair maps.
Trump may as well have called the rest of us peasants.
According to him, it wasn’t workers who built America. It was rich guys like him and his cabinet:
“These people built the country, not the complainers. The complainers didn’t build the country…. Whether it’s fishermen or farmers or anything else. Me. Guys like me, they built the country. And you know, I watch all these ingrates, they’re always complaining, complaining. They didn’t build anything, they couldn’t build anything.”
For those who were so concerned about inflation in the run-up to the 2024 election, the inflation rate was 2.9% during Biden's last year in office. Today, with Donald and the White House in charge of the economy, inflation has risen to 4.2%.
4.2 > 2.9
USDA Sec. Brooke Rollins JUST shamelessly lied about DOGE's cuts to the program that prevented screwworm outbreaks, saying DOGE cuts had "zero to do" with it.
Unfortunately for her, extensive reporting from March 2025 definitively showed these initiatives were "killed by Trump."
This outbreak was predictable, preventable, and is another devastating blow to America's farmers.
Say what?
A 28-minute election analysis circulating online has sparked debate by suggesting that Kamala Harris may have won the 2024 U.S. presidential election and that Donald Trump's victory could warrant further examination.
The presentation was delivered by Nathan Taylor, Executive Director of Public Engagement for the Election Truth Alliance, who cited precinct-level heat maps, statistical models, and election data analysis to support his claims. According to Taylor, certain voting patterns observed in the election appeared different from trends typically expected in large-scale electoral data.
The analysis argues that elections often follow predictable statistical distributions when voter turnout is compared with candidate vote share. Taylor contends that some 2024 results displayed patterns that merit additional review and discussion.
The claims have generated significant attention online. Supporters say the findings deserve closer examination and independent analysis, while critics argue that statistical anomalies alone do not prove election misconduct and that extraordinary claims require strong, verifiable evidence.
At this time, the allegations remain disputed, and no official findings have concluded that the outcome of the 2024 election was altered by fraud or irregularities. The debate continues to highlight broader questions about election transparency, public trust, and the interpretation of complex voting data. #BreakingNews #CurrentEvents #DonaldTrump #USPolitics #GovernmentAccountability
