WASH means "water, sanitation, and hygiene," a basic human right that has been out of reach for many communities due to lack of access to clean water and health education. RMF supports #WASH implementation, research, and education through many of our initiatives around the world.
Our community nutrition educators use mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) tape to help determine whether a child is moderately or severely malnourished. Our CNEs work to provide support and care to families and make sure the child attends a nutrition rehabilitation center.
As part of our Childhood Malnutrition Eradication Program in Madhya Pradesh, India, our team of community nutrition educators visits families across 10 villages to assess children's nutritional status and follow up with care, support, and education in cases of malnutrition.
Partnering with local organizations, RMF held community health camps in rural Nepal where more than 25% live below the poverty line and adequate health care services are not easily accessible. Vulnerable populations have benefited greatly from free examinations and treatment.
Our health and nutrition teams in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda conduct malnutrition screenings for children, as well as nutrition education sessions for mothers and other interested community members.
RMF encourages all mothers to bring their babies in for immunization against deadly diseases. Continuous immunization of all under-5 children living in and around the Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement is implemented through our supported health facilities and outreach activities.
RMF continues to implement our sports development program in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda, which is promoting psychological wellbeing, life skills, and cooperation among the youth. The helps to diffuse some of the tension existing between different tribes.
Together with our supporters, we have helped the Precious Childrenโs Centre in Kampala, Uganda be able to enroll 387 children, who are now benefiting from primary education and regular meals at the school.
RMFโs stabilization centers in Ayod and Boma, South Sudan, provide a range of medical services for children suffering from acute malnutrition with medical complications.
All of our outpatient therapeutic program sites screen acutely malnourished children for malaria and provide appropriate treatment based on the South Sudan Ministry of Healthโs policies.
Our program uses soccer to bridge divides and create a safe space where young people can form new group identities and learn skills to effectively deal with conflict, as well as providing counseling for players with trauma from past experiences. Join us!

๐ With our partners at @LaureusSport, we found that sports can empower refugee children in amazing ways.
Every year, RMF's support enables more children to complete their primary or secondary education in Uganda, helping to reduce illiteracy rates. In the second quarter of 2019 alone, we paid school fees for 80 children at Buwate Sports Academy.
To help the next generation gain the skills they need, RMF has supported #vocationaltraining and sports programs in Uganda, nursing and #midwifery programs in South Sudan and Nepal, a greenhouse livelihood program in Kenya, language workshops in Serbia, and more.
#Vocational and skills development is part of our vision to build capacity and self-sustainability without dependency in disaster and poverty-affected areas.
