Europe needs its own Second Amendment.

The U.S. Second Amendment protects the individual right to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes such as self-defense, and it limits government infringement of that right. Europe has no comparable protection. That leaves Europeans far more exposed when the state becomes authoritarian, abusive, or unaccountable.

People must have the right to defend themselves, not only against criminals and violent aggressors on dark streets or in empty late-night trains, but ultimately, and perhaps even more importantly, against an abusive and increasingly totalitarian state.

Rights are not real if citizens have no practical means to protect them. And when a self-satisfied state protects only itself and its bloated bureaucracy, but not its citizens, then sooner or later citizens will demand other means of self-defense.

For the record, I am not anti-AI. I run a few small LLM's here at home to help with writing tasks. AI has many great applications and is a necessary step in our technological evolution. "AI should be a TOOL we use to aid us. Not something to replace us."
