On this International Youth Day 2026, I send my warmest greetings to young people in Kwara State and across Nigeria.

Young people constitute a vital demographic in any society. We value the contributions of young Kwarans to the socio-economic development of our state through their creativity, enterprise, innovation and leadership capacity.

The theme of this year's celebration, ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations’, is quite instructive. It is a poignant reminder that young people may have diverse backgrounds and understandings, but similar aspirations bind them together. Over the past seven years, our administration has rolled out several youth-focused initiatives and made deliberate choices to support the common aspirations of young people for inclusion, human capital development, empowerment and good governance.

My belief in the potential and capacity of young Kwarans remains unwavering. I wish you all a fulfilling present and a bright future.

Our Thank You tour to Kwara South continues; this time around we visited Oyun, Offa and Irepodun Local Government Areas of our dear state. Our profound gratitude goes to their Royal Majesties, the traditional rulers in these three local government areas, for receiving us wholeheartedly and for their prayers and royal blessings. We are sincerely grateful to all of them particularly the Olupo Ajase Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye Adetona I and the Olofa of Offa kingdom, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye for acknowledging and appreciating the good works of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON across the state and their supplication for the government, the APC and all her candidates in the 2027 general election.

Earlier today, I had the honour to host our leader, Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, alongside our party's candidates and the amazing youth across Kwara.

I sincerely thank His Excellency for the trust reposed in me and indeed in the youth of our dear state. By His Grace, we will use our experience to sustain and improve upon the transformation agenda of Kwara that we are all part of.

Without mincing words, Governor AbdulRazaq has performed wonderfully well. Even those who talk on radio and television have never for one day said he has not performed. As someone who has been part of oversights, I can confirm to you that the governor's impact is felt in all 193 wards of Kwara.

We have learnt a lot from his leadership, and by God’s grace we will keep the train moving. Whenever people ask about capacity or popularity, my answer is simple: Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is gaining more popularity, and all of us who contested the primaries did so on the strength of his structure.

As candidates, we are already reaching out to our brothers who are aggrieved as part of moves to deepen reconciliation efforts of the party. And to our elders in the party, the insinuation that we are coming to retire the elders as young people is unfounded; our administration has gained so much from the elders’ wisdom, and we will always leverage their wise counsel, as there's no retirement age in politics.

Kwara will be greater, and together we can do it!

For those who didn’t know late Col. AA Ude and the reason why his mysterious death is so painful to us (Igbo Muslims)

Sheikh Col. AA Ude was a Hafizul Qur’an (He memorized the whole Qur’an).

He was a mastery of Arabic Language, he commands the Language perhaps better than the Arabs.

He was a seasoned intelligence military officer and one of the best in Nigeria today.

He was due for his promotion to the rank of Brigadier General next year (a rank no Igbo Muslim ever has attained in the Military).

He had numerous awards commending his rare intelligence and intellect in Military intelligence security (a rare breed).

Above all, he was a very calm, quiet, and composed individual and hardly raises his voice when he communicates! 😭

He was a Teacher of the Qur’an and a great mentor to most of us and Wallahi, it would take a generation to raise his kind again in our midst!

May Allah grant you pardon our dear sheikh and illuminate your grave! May you not be questioned for too long before you are admitted into Jannah!

Yesterday in Ilorin, I hosted two academic wonders -- Israel Adekunle Adeniyi and Oluwatomisin Promise Daniel -- who recently won our state new laurels at the 2026 Nigerian Law School Graduation in Abuja. Israel, from Offa, was the overall best graduating student at the ceremony, while Oluwatomisin, an indigene of Idofin Igbana in Oke Ero, was the second best graduating student in Criminal Litigation for the same year. Both legal nerds had graduated from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

I felt it was necessary to personally honour their hard work, commitment, and brilliance to motivate others to also do well and make their families and our state proud.

In addition to the cash gifts of N5m apiece, I was fascinated by their plans of going for their Master's degrees at some Ivy League institutions across the Atlantic, and I accordingly pledged to fund this academic endeavour once they secure their admission.

This is our token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. We care for excellence and hard work in any field.

And in what gave a lie to the 'school is a scam' refrain these days, Israel and Oluwatomisin are already doing very well after school as young legal scholars, and I wish them all the best that life has to offer.

This weekend, some of my colleagues and I joined His Excellency Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, for an official tour of the Glo-Djigbé Industrial Zone (GDIZ) in Cotonou, the Republic of Benin.

We inspected the zone's vast and integrated agro-processing systems, including the cotton, cashew and soybean value chains.

The GDIZ model is a practical reflection of how deliberate government policy could boost agricultural productivity, reduce export of raw commodities, and create jobs across agric and manufacturing value chains.

Our visit to Cotonou is a continuation of our African peer-learning mission. We had previously visited Ethiopia to study their own model. As our industrial zones take shape across various states in Nigeria, I believe these valuable lessons come very handy for a successful implementation.

Kwara is one of the pilot states for the implementation of the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Project in Nigeria. All of us, the participating states, are working collaboratively with the Federal Government and development partners, including the African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and International Fund for Agricultural Development, to provide the infrastructure required for the zone. This will ramp up local production, strengthen the economy, and create large-scale employment opportunities for the citizens.

President Tinubu Appoints Governor AbdulRazaq,CON @RealAARahman , Femi Gbajabiamila @femigbaja, others in state police implementation committee

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the Presidential Working Group on the National Policing Bill to prepare the legal framework for implementing state police across the country.

Tinubu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, inaugurated the panel at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The inauguration followed the Senate’s passage of the Constitution Alteration (State Police) Bill, 2026, proposing a dual policing structure comprising the Federal Police Service and 36 State Police Services.

Tinubu said while the constitutional amendment creates the framework for state police, the National Policing Bill would provide the legal structure for its implementation.

He said, “The Constitution Amendment Bill establishes in the framework for dual policing, but it does not operationalise it. That work is left to the National Policing Bill.”

He said the proposed legislation would address policing standards, state readiness, federal-state coordination, accountability, human rights safeguards and personnel transition.

“The proposed National Policing Bill will include provisions on minimum policing standards, state readiness certification, federal-state coordination, accountability, human rights safeguards and fiscal conditions,” he noted.

The president said that the committee will produce an implementation-ready draft bill immediately after the constitutional amendment process.

“The Working Group has been constituted to produce a technically robust, implementation-ready draft National Policing Bill for transmission to the National Assembly,” Tinubu said.

He said the committee would also recommend other legal instruments required for the smooth implementation of the dual policing system.

“We must not wait until the constitutional process is concluded before beginning this important assignment,” he said.

Gbajabiamila will serve as chairman of the committee, while members include the Attorney-General of the Federation, National Security Adviser and Inspector-General of Police.

Others are; President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Chairman, NGF Committee on State Police and a Secretariat.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi described the initiative as timely in view of Nigeria’s security challenges.

“There is no denying the fact that we are in a critical moment security-wise, and all hands must be on deck,” he said.

Fagbemi urged governors to ensure speedy ratification of the constitutional amendment by their respective state assemblies.

“I appeal to the governors to do their utmost to ensure the early passage of the constitutional amendment because this is a shared responsibility,” he said.

President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Afam Osigwe, reaffirmed the association’s support for the state police initiative.

“Nigeria can hardly be effectively policed by one national police. We fully support the constitutional amendment providing for state police,” he said.

Osigwe, however, stressed the need for adequate legal safeguards to prevent abuse of state police.

“We must ensure we do not create a monster. The right legal framework must guarantee accountability and prevent oppression,” he said.

He pledged the NBA’s commitment to supporting the committee in producing legislation that will strengthen security while protecting citizens’ rights.

Speaking on behalf of the NGF, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State pledged governors’ support for the speedy implementation of the reform.

He said the plan is for the 36 state governors to accelerate work on the bill once it gets to their various House of Assembly and passed unanimously.

“The plan is that when the bill gets to our various Houses of Assembly, we will all pass it on the same day,” he said.

*Kwara Holds Maiden Engagement Meeting on NJFP*

The Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development has held its first stakeholders' engagement meeting on the implementation of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the deployment, monitoring, and management of beneficiaries across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.

The meeting brought together Directors of Personnel, Finance and Supply and Staff Officers from the Head of Service and the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), providing a platform for deliberations on the effective coordination, deployment, monitoring, and welfare of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows across the state.

Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Ambassador Ndanusa Usman Shehu, explained that the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme was established to equip young Nigerians with practical workplace experience and hands-on skills needed to thrive in today's competitive labour market.

He noted that the programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice, thereby enhancing the employability and productivity of Nigerian youths.

Ambassador Ndanusa reiterated the need for effective monitoring of fellows posted to various MDAs to ensure that the objectives of the programme are fully achieved. He stressed that all beneficiaries must demonstrate commitment, diligence, and professionalism throughout the fellowship period.

The Commissioner also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, for his unwavering commitment to youth development and human capital advancement.

He commended the Governor's visionary leadership in positioning Kwara State as a strategic partner in the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, noting that the collaboration reflects the administration's determination to create meaningful opportunities for young people to gain relevant workplace experience, develop professional competence, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the state.

Ambassador Ndanusa further stated that the support of Gov AbdulRazaq has continued to attract impactful development programmes and partnerships to Kwara State, particularly those targeted at empowering youths through skills development, innovation, and employment opportunities.

The Commissioner further warned that the government would not condone absenteeism or indiscipline, emphasizing that appropriate sanctions would be meted out to beneficiaries who fail to report to their duty posts or violate the guidelines of the programme.

In his presentation, the Director of Youth Development, Alhaji Abdulsalam Akeem highlighted the academic qualifications and educational backgrounds of the successful fellows, noting that the beneficiaries were carefully selected through a transparent and merit-based process.

He also underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment, supervision, and evaluation of the fellows throughout the programme.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Ministry, Hajia Okanla Kuburat Atinuke, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner, the Directors, Staff Officers, and all participants for their valuable contributions and commitment towards the successful implementation of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme.

She urged all stakeholders to sustain the spirit of collaboration in ensuring that the programme achieves its objective of empowering young Nigerians with practical skills and meaningful work experience.

*Spotlighting Gov Abdulrazaq's @RealAARahman Midas Touch in Kwara State Stadium Facilities and Sports Development*

The condition of the facilities inside Kwara State Stadium, as well as sports development before the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, was nothing to write home about. Take the iconic Indoor Sports Hall and the spectators' facilities of the main bowl pitch, for instance. They were dilapidated and scared athletes and spectators.

Since his first day in office, however, the sports-loving Governor Abdulrazaq has taken it as a matter of urgency to correct the abnormalities bedevilling the development of sports in the state, such as dilapidated sporting facilities and unpaid players' allowances, and return Kwara to its enviable position in both national and international sports.

Today, Kwara boasts of being one of the states in Nigeria with the best sporting facilities, attracting national and international athletes like the Kwara-born badminton champion, Bolaji Eniola Mariam. According to her, the newly renovated and constructed modern sporting facilities are standard in all ramifications and can host international competitions.

One of the facilities that stands out inside the Kwara State Stadium complex is the Squash Court Complex, being the largest cluster of squash courts in one location in Africa. According to the Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, the fully solar-powered Squash Courts host 10 glass-backed courts on the same site.

The impacts of Governor Abdulrazaq’s contributions to sports have been incredible, repositioning the state to its deserving position. In squash, Kwara has produced Nigeria's female number 1, 3, 4, and 5 ranked players, making the state the focal point for lovers of the sport. Also, the state's athletes dominated the Ugandan Open, winning the first and third positions.

Furthermore, six out of the 12 squash players who will represent Nigeria at the Under-19 World Championships are from Kwara State. These outstanding strides, particularly among female athletes in the state, are a direct result of sustained investment in facilities and talent development by the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration.

Another facility that has kept sports lovers commending Governor Abdulrazaq for his investment in sports is the modern Indoor Table Tennis facility. It is a standard court that can accommodate up to 12 table tennis games at once. The training ground has produced table tennis legends like Atanda Musa, as well as Nigeria’s under-19 champions, who are from the State of Harmony.

The gains of Governor Abdulrazaq’s investment go beyond indoor sports. Kwara’s cyclist, Falilat Abdulrazak, made history by winning the first gold medal for Nigeria at the 2020 CAC African Track Cycling Championship in Abuja. Similarly, Kwara is doing better in football. Recently, Kwara United won the President's Federation Cup for the first time in its history.

Indeed, Governor Abdulrazaq has put everything in place for the athletes in the State to have a conducive environment to train. So, it is not surprising that African champions, national champions, and the next generation of world champions are emerging from Kwara across different sports such as squash, football, table tennis, chess, and scrabble, among others.
