@Italian347 Julia Domna was Syrian. Severus was from Libya. This marks the start of power shifting towards the ancillary regions and specifically the East. This just shows how similar/Euro the Mediterranean world looked before the Arab conquest.

@Italian347 Septimus Severus was 100% not black, but he was probably dark skinned though. You can see his children are light though (poor Geta) and possess Medi features. Interestingly this is the only Imperial family portrait around after being preserved in Fayum Oasis.
