@dsmerdon Seems a more efficient tool would have a language based and a search based offering tailored to the question. Your question could have turned up a bibliographic quant study if it had identified this was a search question. Won’t be long before that is built in?
@MacroAlf Why are banks not going to raise deposit rates to compete with MMFs before this gets out of hand? They raised deposit rates when regulation rewarded deposits over other liabilities.
@Brad_Setser Brad, you can only intervene in the nominal. If the nominal was too weak over decades then relative prices would have adjusted to approximate the correct real level. You need to explain why inflation in these countries was lower than the US despite supposed nominal undervaluation
@jnordvig@BobOnMarkets Note the larger share of multiple dwellings v single family v prior cycles. Multiple dwellings are more steel intensive, and are simply more substantial projects
@delong I am not sure those estimates from -48000 to -3000 make sense given the global dispersion of farming starting c -8000? Surely that was a positive productivity shock?
