Cascadia is the big one!! The current concern over the long-term episodic quakes is a huge signal of what's getting ready to happen off the West Coast of Oregon. Axial Sea Mount is an underwater volcano that is monitored with the most sophisticated instruments in the world. Prior to Mount Pinatubo's eruption in the Philippines in 1991, Bernard Chouet, a USGS scientist, predicted the eruption ahead of time of Mount Pinatubo based on patterns and signals given off by long-term episodic earthquakes. Just like what's happening beneath the waves off the coast of Oregon. Bottom line -look for a magnitude 10+ earthquake to literally cause unimaginable destruction when it erupts. 11 of the 18 most active volcanoes lie within the Cascadia region of the Pacific Northwest.
