The Defence and Security of Citizens Outreach Program 2026 culminated with the handover of 12 newly constructed houses to vulnerable families in Gatonde Village, Rutabo Cell, Mugunga Sector, Gakenke District. This event also marked the 32nd Anniversary of Liberation (Kwibohora32), jointly commemorated by the Rwanda Defence Force and the Rwanda National Police.

The official handover ceremony was officiated by Chief Justice Domitilla Mukantaganzwa, Minister of Youth and Arts Dr. Jean Nepo Abdallah Utumatwishima, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. M.K. Mubarakh, and Northern Province Governor Mugabowagahunde.

Whether those ideas are good or bad, there is one illness I do not think we will cure anytime soon: when, in your own mind, you stop being yourself and begin wishing you were somebody else. Why would you want to become someone else? To achieve what? In our own history, with everything we have been through, that is exactly how we lost our way.

Today the Commander of the Joint Task Force Bangui (Comd JTFB) and Rwanda Country Senior to United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Brig Gen Franco RUTAGENGWA, visited Rwandan peacekeepers (RWABAT-2) Headquarters at Bossembele Permanent Operating Base.

The visit aimed to assess the contingent's operational readiness, logistical support, and administrative status.During his interaction with officers and troops, the Commander emphasized the importance of maintaining high operational readiness.

He commended RWABAT-2 personnel for their professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty, encouraging them to continue upholding the Rwanda Defence Force's values and standards.

"The composition of this panel, bringing together a former member of the ex-FAR, General (Rtd) Ibingira from the RPA/RPF, and a former member of the FDLR, and what they have shared, reflects just how complex, diverse, and layered our history is. Let me say this: a great deal of what has been said on this panel has been valuable, and the discussions around it have only reinforced those lessons. One thing I wanted to pick up on is what Ibingira mentioned about those ungrateful people who insult and disparage others.

My advice is simple: do not waste your energy fighting those who insult you. Put your energy into building, building yourselves, and building your country, so that insults and the people who make them become insignificant and have no impact on you. Ignore them, and keep doing what you are supposed to do. That is what matters.

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and Rwanda National Police (RNP) donated cows and goats to residents of Kirehe and Kayonza districts on 22 June 2026 as part of the Defence and Security Citizen Outreach Programme (DSCOP 2026).

The distribution exercise will run throughout the week across several sectors, including Nasho in Kirehe and Ndego, Mwili, Kabare, and Rwinkwavu in Kayonza. A total of 910 goats and six cows will be distributed to community members in these areas.

A delegation from the Kenya Military Academy, led by Colonel E. L. Lovega, today visited MOD&RDF Headquarters and paid a courtesy call on the Director General of International Military Cooperation and Defence Spokesperson, Brig Gen Patrick Karuretwa.

The delegation is in Rwanda for a week-long visit from 14–20 June 2026 to the Rwanda Military Academy, further strengthening the longstanding partnership between the Rwanda Defence Force and the Kenya Defence Forces in military education and training.

As part of their program, the delegation also paid respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at Kigali Genocide Memorial and visited the Campaign against Genocide Museum.
