People cry "private schools discriminate against children" as if that's somehow an argument for it being bad. Freedom of association is necessary both ways. If private schools are forced to let anyone in, it diminishes much of the incentive to go there.

Many parents don't want to raise their kids in a school system designed for people in the bottom 10th percentile of IQ to keep pace.

Many parents don't want their kid to park in a lot where someone who just got their license is trying to hit 60 without a muffler.

Many parents don't want their kids to not be able to use the restrooms at school because the stalls are occupied with other kids ripping their cadmium vapor.

Many parents don't want their respectful child to have worse equipment because someone in Cookie Monster pajama pants won't stop jamming pencils into the Chromebook charging ports.

If you orient a society to not discriminate based on merit, you are oppressing the meritorious and stunting excellency.
