The U.S. Treasury has announced that it will increase its long-term Treasury buyback operations from a maximum of $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation, starting September 9, 2026. These are purchases of existing Treasury securities, mainly in the 10–30 year maturity area.

However the screenshot below saying US Treasury will buy back $14.5B of its own debt next week”

does not match the official Treasury announcement I found. The official announcement says at least $4B per operation, not a single $14.5B buyback.

What does this mean for XAUUSD? 🥇

Potentially bullish for gold, but NOT an automatic buy signal.
