Carrick's said: "It is one game. It doesn’t change the whole course of direction the team is going in or the football club"
That's the problem. Maybe it should. Not after Sevilla, not after Spurs, not after any of the last ten years. The course is the constant, it's just not the right one.
Bruno's out there taking corners and apologizing to the away end. That's not a system failure. That's eight years of asking your best player to also be your therapist.
Ipswich at Old Trafford next. If this squad the one we spent a full summer rebuilding can't beat a newly promoted side, "the course" needs to change.
I am not blaming Carrick, but something needs to change at this football club and it aint just managers or players.

Marcus Rashford managed 25 goal involvements on loan at Barcelona last season, 14 goals and 11 assists in 49 appearances, the fourth highest return in a squad that won LaLiga. Barcelona had a reported €30m option to sign him permanently and let the June deadline pass, taking Anthony Gordon instead. United's gain.
Carrick's already using him through the middle in pre-season, not just wide. Two years left on his contract, 138 goals and 60 assists in 426 appearances since his 2015 debut, most of that from the left. But his most productive spell abroad came with him drifting inside and finishing like a genuine 9.
So which is it for you: is Rashford still a winger who cuts inside, or has he actually turned into a false 9 / central striker option at this point? Genuinely split on this one myself.

£40M. That was Rashford's release clause. It expired on July 15th and nobody touched it.
Barcelona had him on loan all last season, held a €30M option to make the move permanent, and let it die — then spent €80M on Anthony Gordon instead. A club that already had him picked someone else over him.
No winger came in to replace him either. So he's back for pre-season not because of any masterplan, just because the summer ran out before United found a taker or a replacement.
Ratcliffe took over promising a football club run like a business. Two days from a Premier League opener, and business still can't tell you who starts on the left. Some plan.

Good Morning
Under the Glazers, Manchester United became a club constantly reacting instead of leading.
Late rebuilds.
Late decisions.
Late fixes.
A club that once set the standard in football now spends years trying to recover from avoidable mistakes.
That’s ownership failure.

Manchester United interim boss Michael Carrick is the frontrunner for the permanent role after strong results since January.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe still favors Gareth Southgate, who remains under consideration.
Other candidates include Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, Unai Emery, and Andoni Iraola.
A final decision will be made after the season.

We don’t lack passion.
We don’t lack support.
We lack ownership that matches the size of this club.
