The Portland Trailblazers in the east is definitely a top 8 team maybe even top 6. Their defense is legit but the west is so good it will be hard to keep up.
@NBA If Mobley takes another jump and can score 20+ a night on top of his dpoy level defense the Cavs could be a contender. But this could also be their last chance with the second apron going to tear up the team.
@LegionHoops Great matchup. Would have liked to see a better teams tonight. But that one is more for views since the lakers and warriors have some of the biggest fan bases
@NBA Great player but I’m not sure he is worth the max contract. I think IHart was more valuable last year than he was. But the contract I think is based more on his potential then current value
Obviously teams like Penn State, Clemson and Texas are included but based on last season they had a better argument to be ranked high. But what I’m getting at is the preseason rankings are horrible
Preseason/early season top 25 is so flawed. Certain teams are ranked with no deserving of it. Especially SEC teams. Like LSU got ranked ridiculously high because of preseason rankings and beating Clemson but turns out Clemson sucks and LSU should’ve have been ranked high.
A couple of teams that benefited from the preseason rankings then played bad teams so they were/are ranked too high. Tennessee, Michigan, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and South Carolina
Like getting a “ranked win” against Penn State, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Michigan, Texas boosts teams rank way more then it should. Considering most aren’t ranked anymore or shouldn’t be ranked high at all.
As you can see it’s mostly SEC schools with a big ten team. Obviously you can’t tell the future when it comes to certain teams but claiming ranked wins for some of these teams are ridiculous.
Some teams fit this mold, the Cavs didn’t do much in the offseason but Mobley and Garlands improvements will make the team better. The Twolves also fit this mold with Anthony Edward’s, Jaden McDaniels improvement. The pistons with basically everyone’s improvement
NBA fans I feel completely disregard team development. They mainly look at offseason moves. And rely on that and how the team did the previous season for team rankings.
