Open Letter to President Tinubu @officialABAT
Pleasant greetings to you sir, I sincerely appreciate all you have been doing to stabilise the economy of Nigeria since you assumed office in 2023. I understand starring the ship of Nigeria is a very tough task considering the many challenges we are facing as regards security, ethnic and religious crises, amongst others, I don't envy you at all. I pray God will continue to guide and strengthen you as you lead the country.
I'm writing to you today as a concerned Nigerian, based on the present economic condition of the country majorly due to the increase in fuel price necessitated by the war in the middle east between the US/Israel and Iran.
This war has created a debilitating effect on the populace as prices of goods and services have skyrocketed, the solution for which may be daunting to provide.
But sir, the 2026 budget was premised on the price of crude oil pegged at $64.85 per barrel. It is of note that ever since the war started the barrel of crude oil jumped to about $120 and is currently trading at about $90 per barrel. And considering that we produce about 1.84m barrels of crude oil a day, the country is expected to have a surplus of about $49.6m daily or $1.5bn dollar monthly, and I also understand that this surplus will naturally boost our FX
My President sir, let's assume all the figures I quoted up there didn't come into the country's purse maybe due to Oil theft, Pipeline vandalism and OPEC quota for the county, we are able to get let's say 40% of the sum which will be about $20m per day or $7bn per month and in naira terms should be N9.8tn (I may be wrong).
So the question now is sir, if the country has earned this amount in the last one month, what is the money being used for sir? Is there any way we as citizens of the country are benefitting or should benefit from these largesse? Is it now an opportunity for the govt to subsidise fuel in however way you can?
If this money was shared to Governors and LGA Chairman via the FAAC, what are they doing with it? Or is the fund in our excess crude account? If yes, what plan does the govt have for this money to alleviate the suffering of the people?
The primary responsibility of the government is to its people, there are several countries that are putting in place measures to relieve their citizens from this economic pressure, we can do the same sir.
I understand that once given an opportunity, Nigerians often tend to go overboard by inflating figures and diverting fuels to neighbouring countries as we witnessed during the subsidy period, but sir, there has to be a way to mitigate these issues sir.
I hope that this will get to your table or someone close will see it and pass it to you sir. Pressure ti wa sir.
From a concerned Nigerian

She said you should curse your parents that were irresponsible enough to let Nigeria slide to this state before you were born o. Is she the cause of your problem?
