I see we are at the point in the cycle where rockets Twitter suddenly, and with little provocation, decides to turn violently against a young prospect/coach/GM (Bari in this case). How the cycle goes with any player who doesn’t quickly become an impact player (1/):
We should also be evaluating the pick in the context of all the rebuild picks. Sure, Bari had lower upside than you hope from #3, but we got Sengun at 17 and have many other high upside guys. Having (if he hits) a Swiss Army knife, low usage role player starter is a great asset

I also don’t understand why many are suddenly fixating on Chet and Paolo. We had the 3rd pick in a “3 player” draft. We were always gonna get the guy who fell. The other two teams made good evals, we made the no-brainer pick after that. We never had a chance at Chet or Paolo (7/)
@RocketsfanSid It’s been 6 games. FVV was an obvious regression candidate coming off last season’s career highs at his age, but he’s going to settle into something in between last year and this bad start Im sure. That said, scaling back his minutes (some) for the young guys is a-okay with me
@stanfordkp Off the dribble threes were a significant part of his shot diet last year and I think he shot pretty well on them (acknowledging they are harder shots). FVV’s huge weakness has always been his 2 point shooting, which is horribly inefficient. But that isn’t anything new
@stanfordkp And he has always looked slow lol. I didnt see anything different from last season as far as burst. That being said, I think it’s definitely correct to keep a close eye on possible significant regression. I just thought that before the season started as well
@stanfordkp I agree that he is a prime regression candidate due to age and coming off best shooting season. But I don’t think this one game showed us anything specifically. “Teams” have not “adjusted to the PnR” IMO. Charlotte’s scheme conceded PnR 3s and FVV and JG couldn’t make them pay
@JamesPiercey11 Only being 2 years away from the bad contract being expiring salary that can be traded without a big cost doesn’t seem like a good enough justification for the deal. And it’s a double edged sword because on the upside case, years 4 and 5 are by far best two years of a 5 year deal
