A notorious galamsey kingpin in Anyinam, “Hero” has reportedly led a violent attack on the Darkokrom community in the Eastern Region, resulting in the death of a young man identified as Edward Gyaba and the hospitalization of a 75-year-old man.

The attack, allegedly perpetrated by heavily armed thugs, followed agitations by local residents over his illegal mining operations in the area and the abandonment of open pits that pose serious safety risks to the public.

The 75-year old man who sustained gunshot wounds is currently receiving treatment at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
