70s Satanic Panic/occult exploitation/grindhouse cover we did awhile back for an AD&D adventure module. It's been a couple of years but the project is still on the calendar. The vibe is a seedy city with multiple factions plagued by the perils mentioned on the cover, inspired by the classics. I only stopped when I realized I was basically making the same book twice just with different circumstances. Art by @ReallyRobocorn #dnd
Saw #TTRPGs trending on my feed due to hawklorddragon posting classic book art so I wanted share four of our best cover arts. Yeah it's a self-shill but there's a lot of underrated artists out there.
Phew! Thanks so much to everyone I saw this weekend at @MassMICE.
It was my biggest con (maybe ever) and Im so grateful to the oganizers, volunteers, and all the passionate people I got to meet.

Toldoros was the heart of a kingdom of good folk, ruled by a just king... before the dragon came. Now only shadows and ghosts lurk its streets. A hidden borough of friendly rodents lies sequestered to the south of the ruin; to the east, a crossroads plays home to survivors and provincial folk alike, and the dragon leaves them be (for there's no treasure to be found there... but much opportunity for adventure).
Every destination of Aeres awaits your party to make their story there. #TTRPGs #DnD
In elder days, when the stars were nearer, there dwelt in the high marches beneath the boughs of Eldrisir, two brothers, who had sworn oaths to the old god Aelothyr to mete out justice; and thus, of a dragon's form they took, monstrous, but destined to lay low the wicked.
Ser Thrain, proud and bold, his armor gilt with gold and platinum, was one, and his younger, Ser Theodric, quiet of tongue but steady of heart, who bore a great sword that could rend iron rings like kindling leaves.
Together they kept the watch at Aldranur, the vast silverwood, wherein slumbered the great wyrm Aelothyr, who had not yet walked upon the face of this land as the champion in white. The brothers rode side by side and held council in the shadow of the oakwood, keeping to the Eld, the Old Ways of the gods now nearly forgotten.
But in time, pride swelled within Thrain's breast. Whispers reached his ear, borne on ill winds, that such might as the kind he possessed, and given his noble rebirth, entitled him to dominion, and to sire more of his kind to march across every kingdom, not to warden only the north. "Why,” quoth he on the trail one morn, “should dragons sleep while men toil and kings wax fat? Let us wake the fire and seize it all, for is it not owed to us?”
Theodric scolded him soundly, saying, “Brother, break not the Oath, lest all be unmade. Do not lead our father to weep for such sin.”
Yet Thrain did not heed the words, and seduced by wicked tongues which spoke to his desires at twilight, he shed his armor like a wild beast, and flew eastward, seeking fire and ruin, and to join the dark host of a new master.
Now in those times, to break one's honor was a curse of doom, and filled with shame for his brother, Theodric took not up arms against his blood, but rather, he clad himself in tarnished bronze, and rode deeper into the grove, to places where even the stars were veiled (the roots themselves still whisper of his brother's tragedy). There, it is said, he dwelleth still, beneath an oaken vault, tended by quiet things and watching ever.
Some say the trees whisper his name still. And the old ones speak thus: “When the stars fall low again, and the thorn-rose blooms, the knight of azure may rise once more, to reckon blood with blood in the last hours of the world."
Will you face the dragon knights? Will you take up the oath of Aelothyr? Or pass wistfully by, distracted by some ruin or dungeon? The choice is yours, but the answer may forever allude you, in our open world setting, the Chronicles of Aeres Reforged, coming soon for AD&D and Shadowdark. #dnd #osr #ttrpgs
Recently I posted a story about two dragon knights, one who fell into shadow, the other into sorrow. Are these playable races in our AD&D setting? Well, yes and no. In the 5E version of our book, all of our races were openly available and in some cases plentiful, but this was a conceit to modern gaming and to modern fantasy in general.
You will not be able to roll a dragon knight at character creation, or a kobold, or a raven, or any other sort of particularly fantastic, mythical creature. We're bringing things back to the way they once were. There might only be 3 or 4 dragon knights in the entire world. They are not a "nation," or a "culture," or an "ancestry," or a "species." If you discover them, and your interactions are favorable, only then are you able to make such a character. They are legends. No one knows if they exist, and if they do exist, no one remembers what they're like.
By the time you meet them, your characters will be seasoned by the peril of this land, and it will make perfect sense for you take up the mantle of a mythical dragon hero. They're exceedingly powerful, called upon only when the gravest evils need to be put to rest... in Aeres Reforged, mythical races are like treasures. They are your reward for exploration and game mastery, not to be lightly doled out like multi-colored candy sprinkles, as is often the case with gaming today. #dnd #osr
Today is Tabletop Gaming Day! We make D&D adventures and other RPG supplements focusing on an old-school look and feel. We're in a slow spot right now, but more stuff is on the way for AD&D and Shadowdark! Our books will never contain generative AI. #ttrpgcommunity#ttrpgs
"Should we begin our search where the thorns grow?"
"What enchanted things might lie in this ruin?"
"Rumors say a dragon dwells within those halls!"
Those who seek the spirit of Aeres, often find peril and adventure... but more often, beauty and charm.
Set aside the burdens of your shadows, you scoundrels, and pick up your swords and arrows. The land calls for Kings and champions once again!
An old fashioned fantasy setting like the kind we remember from better times. Coming for AD&D (and Shadowdark,) and not too far off! #dnd #ttrpgs #osr
