🚨 Federico Valverde on Yann Bisseck blocking his powerful strike with his head:

🗣️ Valverde: “The moment I hit it and saw him putting his head there, I actually thought, ‘Please don’t.’

Something similar happened in training once. I hit one cleanly and one of our players tried to block it. The next day he didn’t train.

The official report just said he had picked up a knock in training. They didn’t explain who gave him the knock.

So today when the ball sat up for me, I already knew I was going to hit it. I just hoped everybody would move and leave it for the goalkeeper.

At least he has gloves. He’s being paid to stand there.

Then I see Bisseck putting his head in front of it.

Forget whether the shot was going in. For a second I was watching him to make sure he knew where he was.

I respect defending, honestly. But sometimes you also have to respect the shot.

If you see me winding up from there, let the goalkeeper earn his salary.”
