🚨BREAKING: Watch President @Abdirahmanirro deliver a major strategic case for Somaliland in Washington.

Addressing the Hudson Institute, President Irro highlighted Somaliland’s history, the failed 1960 union, the 2005 AU fact-finding mission and the genocide suffered by the people of Somaliland.

He presented Berbera and Somaliland’s strategic location as a major opportunity for the United States, emphasizing its maritime access, stability and the absence of competing foreign military bases.

President Irro also urged Washington to recognize the contrast between Somaliland and Somalia, pointing to Somaliland’s record of security and noting that no U.S. service members have been killed in Somaliland over the past 25 years.

He offered Somaliland’s strategic partnership, Berbera and an Ethiopian corridor as tools to strengthen U.S. maritime security and counter growing Chinese influence in Djibouti and Somalia.

His message to Washington was direct:

I suspect this may be more than just concern about Al. Perhaps this is groundwork for blaming a new virus or global crisis, like COVID-19, on Al later. I am deeply honored and profoundly grateful to H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (@Abdirahmanirro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, for appointing me as the Representative of the Republic of Somaliland to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
