In 2009-10, around 24,000 girls from tribal communities in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat were given a HPV vaccine by an NGO called PATH who had multiple donors including Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccine is a vaccine that claims to help the body against infections with certain types of HPV that is mainly transmitted through skin to skin contact. After the trial, several deaths of vaccinated girls were reported in the Media.

However the Government’s inquiry stated that the deaths were most likely unrelated to the vaccine. When activists and public health groups started protesting against the vaccination drive, the program was halted. Later in 2013 a parliamentary panel criticised the trial for violating the clinical trial norms.

The report found several lapses in how the trial was conducted including inadequate informed consent. The committee also recommended action against the NGO PATH however no evidence of any action on the NGO can be found online.

Bill and Melinda Gates foundation is active in India in many other development and health initiatives with partnership with State and Central government including Public health and disease control, nutrition and sanitation, agricultural and technology. Bill Gates who is accused of meeting Epstein several times in the Epstein files scandal is warmly welcomed in India with both BJP and Congress linked ministers. In a podcast to Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates said “India is an example of country where the health, nutrition, education is improving.

They are stable enough and that it’s a kind of a laboratory to try things that, when you prove them out in India, you can take other places.” This remark was strongly criticised online, some also argued that by the term “laboratory” he meant that the challenges health sector has to face and not that Indians are being treated as Guinea pigs.

What do you think in terms of Bill Gates an accused of Epstein Island being involved in so many health related initiatives in India, Africa and Latin America? Should the government continue allowing them to experiment or outright ban the org and associated NGOs?

@foodpharmer2 All packaged food should have no ambiguous labelling for eg., emulsifier or artificial flavouring or natural flavouring etc., clear itemised description of all chemicals, preservatives etc should be written and not just some terms with nos. That no one can find out what they are.
