Iran is run by “twelvers”, a sect of Shia Islam, whose goal in life is to bring about the coming of the twelfth Mahdi. In other words, their goal is to bring about Armageddon through the use of a worldwide nuclear holocaust to usher in Islam worldwide. Their pursuit of nuclear technology is not for energy or defensive purposes, but offensive purposes only. I’m sure you have heard from multiple administrations that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, but they never explain why. This is why, though I don’t understand why they refuse to explain it for everyone to understand. Perhaps they’re concerned about inflaming the 2 billion Muslims worldwide.

BTW, they believe the twelfth Mahdi lives in a well in Qom, Iran, awaiting this event.
