Regardless of the esports perspective I'm about to give, this is a great initiative. The most consistent drum I've beat for the last 10 years is about the value of tying esports and education together.
From an esports perspective: the biggest advantage the east has vs. the west is exposure to good coaching at a young age, and the social aspect of the PC bong culture overseas.
Education is the easiest way to match that in the States for the social, coaching, and also cultural aspect as scholarship money/opportunity is a big reason many youth sports are what they are in the US.

Vacation brain is awesome. All I did was eat and drink and walk around and not deny myself anything so my brain is like “wow great town. I should move here. It would probably be like this every day”
Explaining to the interviewer that I know the job listing says ‘proficient in Excel and PowerPoint,’ but I use R Studio and Markdown which is actually better if you think about it
its with a heavy heart that i will be stepping away from esports and retuning to academia full time
to my players, coaches, & teams thank you so much for allowing me to be apart of your journeys and for being a part of mine!
was fun while it lasted & remember strong mental wins
My entire esports career was done as side work while I maintained a full time job.
If you want to get into this, you have to do it for the love of the game
@thepsychsensei Unless you are at the pinnacle it is nearly impossible to get by. I see many who try and consult in esports only to realize it doesn't pay the bills (especially early on)
@thepsychsensei This should be shouted from the rooftops. Your advice to me early on changed my trajectory for the better, and as someone who still works in esports in a different vain, it is all the more true.
I'd say this goes for any "esports job" (performance coaches, staff, etc)
my advice for any mental health professionals trying to get into esports
make sure you have a gig that pays the bills and keep esports as a passion project. i don't mean to be a downer, I am only trying to be realistic
