And suddenly the same people who spent years renaming streets, schools, holidays, and tearing down statues are furious.
Bill Maher put it perfectly:

Then he hit the punchline:

That’s the whole point.
This isn’t really about a lake.
It’s about who is allowed to rename things — and who isn’t.
Renaming has been happening for years. Statues came down. Names changed overnight. Language got rewritten. And a lot of people were told to just accept it.
Now a lake name changes… and it’s treated like the end of the world.
That’s not principle.
That’s selective outrage.
A name on a map is not the crisis.
