Starting something new can feel overwhelming, especially when you don't know what to expect.
With coding, it's easy to think you need to be good at maths, already know a programming language, or have everything figured out before you start.
But you don't.
Learning takes time, and you get better by showing up, practising, and allowing yourself to learn along the way.
At Rebase Code Camp, we believe getting started is an important part of the journey. You don't have to know it all. You have to be willing to learn.

Every beginning comes with a little uncertainty.
For our new students, Day 1 was about stepping into a new environment, meeting the people they’ll learn alongside, getting familiar with the space, and taking those first steps into software development.
There’s still a lot ahead: lessons, challenges, projects, mistakes, breakthroughs, and plenty of things to figure out along the way.
But for now, we’re happy to have them here.
Welcome to Rebase. 🧡

🚀 Congratulations to @Lily_Asongfac, a 2023 #TechWomen alumna, on earning a place in the National Space Society's inaugural 30 Under 30 Class of 2026!
The recognition celebrates individuals under age 30 contributing to the future of space exploration, development, and settlement.
A telecommunications engineer and STEM advocate from Kumba, Cameroon, Lily built an international aerospace career through online training, global networking, and collaboration, showing that talent can reach for the stars from anywhere.
Join us in congratulating Lily in the comments! 👇

One of the most annoying moments in development is making a small change and realising you have to make that same change in five different places.
You fix it in one file, forget another, and suddenly different parts of your application are behaving differently.
...
Learning to code feels different when you have to figure things out for yourself.
Today, our newer trainees are putting their JavaScript basics to the test as they work through problems towards their first HackerRank certification.
...
What happens when you take a real business problem and ask, “Can we solve this with tech?”.
Our students explored that question with Fitnexa, a digital token-based gym management platform built to simplify payments, service access, and revenue tracking.
...
A real problem. A practical solution. Built with tech.
If you want to learn to build solutions of your own, Rebase could be your starting point.
October applications are closing soon:

Some answers come quickly. Others take a few tries. But every problem is another step towards becoming someone who can break down an idea and build with code.
If you want to get to that point too, where you’re not just learning what the code means...
We remember what we learned, but we don't always remember who taught us. Behind every skill is a teacher who took the time to guide and inspire.
Today, we celebrate all mentors shaping the next generation of builders. Happy Teachers’ Day! 🤍

A useful question to ask is: “If this logic changes tomorrow, how many places will I have to update?”
What’s your take on DRY? Have you ever had to fix the same piece of code in multiple places? Tell us about it in the comments.

You fix it in one file, forget another, and suddenly different parts of your application are behaving differently.
...
That way, when the logic changes, you update one place instead of keeping several copies in sync.
But DRY doesn’t mean forcing everything into a reusable function. The goal is to reduce repetition where it actually creates maintenance problems, not to complicate your code.
...
Code is a liability, not an asset.
We still celebrate the wrong metrics: more features, more commits, massive PRs. But every line we add is something we'll have to understand, test, and debug later.
