Arrival! The 91-meter (298 feet long) offshore support vessel Normand Ranger has met up with GO Australis & the floating Starship Ship 40 spacecraft. They’re in about 6,000 meters of water, or 19,685 feet / 3.782 miles deep. US-owned Skimmer Tide is several hours behind.👍🚀⛴️
The cavalry arrives! GO Australis has now been with Ship 40 for 6 days, 12 hours adrift! The SpaceX recovery fleet arrives in ~5.5 hours. Normand Ranger is about 84 miles out, and will arrive today between 17:15–17:40 UTC (1:15–1:40 PM EDT). Skimmer Tide a few hours later. 💪🚀⛴️
An overnight star trails compilation, featuring lightning on the horizon, a 54% rising moon, and rapidly developing cumulus clouds. Taken from Florida’s Bahia Honda State Park’s last night.
I have been here many times. This post shows the close proximity of Russia and Alaska in the Bering Strait. The satellite image is accurate, but the picture of the islands is wrong. It's from the north looking south, so Alaska would be Sunday, and Russian would be Monday. 😇
Camping at New Mexico’s excellent City of Rocks State Park for landscape astrophotography last month was a blast! Very clear skies revealed the horizontal arch of the Milky Way in all its April splendor. Honestly, it felt like we had it all to ourselves from 12:30 AM- 5 AM. 🌌🤩
Milky Way season is back! Here are 3 shots taken about a week ago at from Faywood Hot Springs in New Mexico. That 3 AM alarm was rough, but it was a beautiful #MilkyWay night at 5,800 feet. Couldn't quite get the full arch due to some local lights, but air was really clear.
Spotted the @Wienermobile in the wild a short while ago on SR 528 (The Beachline) between I-95 and the Orlando airport. Way cool to see it cruising down the road.
Daytime blended streaks of the Falcon Heavy launch and twin booster landing this morning. I didn't think I had anything because streaks were really faint even with an ND1000 filter. Also got a picture of one of the boosters coming down. Viewed from the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse.
@ThePhotoHour Great Basin bristle cone pine 11,000 feet up in the White Mountains along Nevada border. The light from some of the Milky Way stars reaching this grove and my camera started when this tree was a seedling 4,000 or so years ago. 🤯

Some shots from this morning's very early (or was it very late) Crew-7 launch at 3:37 AM into a sky full of stars. Made me wish I had used my star tracker, but did get launch, separation & boost back burn in one frame.
The third time WAS a charm. A beautiful launch tonight for the @SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket carrying Hughes satellites from pad 39A. This is a single exposure of the launch from the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse, and then the two side boosters landing 7.5 minutes later at LZ-1 & LZ-2.
Partial streak shot of the Delta IV Heavy launch early this morning. John didn't wake me in time, so I just barely got camera set on the tripod before liftoff. I am clearly out of practice with photography above water and months of underwater macro!🤣
Beautiful thunderstorm moving out over Cape Canaveral waters last evening at sunset. Appreciate the birds and rainbow at the beginning, but stick around for the ⚡️at the end. 😍
Lucky enough to get a long exposure shot of the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse with the launch (left) and B1076's landing burn (right) at tonight's OneWeb launch from LC-40. Thanks, @SpaceX and @SLDelta45. It was a beauty!
@NewsSpectee Yes, you may use the video or images I took and posted here of the Hakuto-R launch. These were from my devices and taken between 2:38 and 2:50 AM. December 11 at Cape Canaveral Lighthouse.
