Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Russian army is close.

Evacuation teams are persuading people to leave. Some are refusing, everyone has their own reasons.

Below, you can read excerpts from several conversations of Ukrainska Pravda reporters with residents of Pokrovsk and the surrounding villages, which continue to be approached by the frontline.

"My son died near Kupiansk, I buried him here. How can I leave?"

"We will go to Pavlohrad, show our son that we are alive, and come back. Olichka, you will take us back, right? Will you?"

"First we were under occupation in Melitopol, then we went to our parents in Pokrovsk district, and now we have to leave this place too... We'll go to Zaporizhzhia."

"Are you angels? Take my neighbor out, she has cysts in her stomach, she needs to have surgery."

Unfortunately, not all residents of Pokrovsk can be persuaded to leave, volunteers and reporters say. Even those who leave requests for evacuation refuse.
