“You shall not pass.”

Happy inter(national) dog day from Finnick and the rest of the Blue hEron Farms crew. 🐾🥰

[Rebecca Miller @RebeccaMiller20]

@flyingmulefarm I am so, so sorry for your loss. 😔

Happy Fourth - from Puck, Pili and little Bette. 😊

To some, Dave Brandt was the guy in the "it ain't much but its honest work" meme.

Others knew him as a pioneer in regenerative ag.

To his family, he was the grandfather who would bring a piglet to his grandson's career day at school.

I had a reader call me Thursday evening to tell me he connected with this story and how the hard work ethic was passed down through the generations.

He said "I saw your number at the end of the story and had to call."

I said, that's what it's there for.

East Palestine Train Derailment update: The Pennsylvania DEP put out an interactive map so you can see everywhere they sampled soil and water for contaminants.

Still no soil or groundwater contamination shown from derailment.

It’s been a year since the first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza was detected in domestic poultry in PA. Since then, more than 4.6 million birds have been killed as a result. Learn more about the impact of the bird flu in PA and nationwide.

Thanks to @erin_gottsacker with The Ohio Newsroom for taking an interest in my story on how nothing is being done about a lot of oil leaky oil and gas wells in Ohio.

@farmingfrontier Good news!

[Rachel Wagoner @wagonerachel]

Anyway, here's my latest. It's a story I've been working on for 6+ months. The story of Dave McCallion's leaking well and why no one can or will do anything to fix it.

[Rebecca Miller @RebeccaMiller20]

This has been a heckuva project for Rachel, and important, important work.

[Rachel Wagoner @wagonerachel]

This is the oil and gas well at the edge of Dave McCallion's hay field in Trumbull County, Ohio. It's been leaking like this for more than 5 years.

@farmingfrontier I am so sorry 😔

[Rebecca Miller @RebeccaMiller20]

@farmingfrontier I feel for ya. I hope power is restored soon. We had a long outage about a week ago. Not as cold as you’re experiencing but all the extra things you have to do to make sure all of the animals are taken care of is exhausting.

[Rachel Wagoner @wagonerachel]

Heard this story on the radio this morning. It is lovely, particularly the ending. So so much wisdom coming from teenage drama kids (because of course)

[Rebecca Miller @RebeccaMiller20]

No surprise - this is a hell of a story. If you haven’t read it yet, do it.

I won first place in the feature writing category (out of 49 entries!) for the North American Agricultural Journalists 2023 writing contest for my story on a farmer's suicide.

I'm happy and proud to have this story recognized. It was a true labor of love

@wagonerachel Juuuuuuust a bit. A tidge, if you will. Combo of tidbit and smidge. 🙃

Very good news for farmers living around the East Palestine train derailment. Preliminary soil test results show no contamination from the vinyl chloride vent & burn.

No VOCs and expected levels of dioxin for a rural area

BREAKING: Preliminary soil test results from farms in Pennsylvania show no signs of contamination from the Norfolk Southern train derailment or subsequent vinyl chloride burnoff, according to the DEP and EPA.

@wagonerachel Oh boy 🙃🤣
