Why would this mug have a lip on the edge. We are at a unique place in history where people don't even know how to design a cup. For people like myself, who must hand wash our dishes, this just doesn't work. And it's in many mugs... divets, bevels, etc... a whole host of mugs and cups being developed... I've seen them being sold in commercial outlets, like Target, etc. Hard to clean, not worth it.
