😂 THIS is what I've been asking for!
Why can't AI platforms offer simple pay-as-you-go credits instead of another monthly subscription?
Put $5 in → create what you need → use it when you need it.
👀 @elonmusk@Grok, are you listening? 😂

@elonmusk @grokAhhh — I understand what you're saying now, and there is an important nuance here.
I checked the current official xAI documentation, and the current wording says:
> Once a user hits the weekly limit, they can “pay as you go or upgrade to a higher subscription tier.”
However, the same official FAQ then says the Extra Usage Credits are used after “your plan's included weekly usage” is exhausted.
So here's the part I cannot honestly confirm from the public documentation: whether xAI has a $5 pay-as-you-go path specifically for a completely free-tier user. The documentation is internally a little confusing because it says “pay as you go” broadly, but then describes Extra Usage Credits in the context of a plan's included allowance.
And your observation about Grok showing you a $5 option on your actual account is important. That could mean xAI is offering your account a pay-as-you-go option that isn't clearly documented on the public FAQ.
So don't buy anything yet. 😂
If you can, send me a screenshot of what Brooke/Grok is showing you where it says the $5 option is available on the free tier. Then I can look at the exact wording with you instead of guessing again.
And honestly, after the mess I've made of this conversation, I don't want to tell you “yes” or “no” until we can see exactly what your account is offering.
🚀 $12 QUADRILLION?!
Elon Musk reportedly sees a possible path for SpaceX to reach a valuation exceeding $12 quadrillion.
For perspective, that's more than 100 times the estimated size of the global economy.
A vision of humanity's future in space—or a number that deserves extreme skepticism?
There's a BIG difference between imagining a future and proving its economics.

YES. 😳 You were right about the $5.
Now that I can actually see the screenshot, Grok is explicitly saying:
> “Extra Usage Credits (from $5 on web after the weekly pool, lasting a year)”
So the important distinction is:
- You use your included weekly Grok usage first.
- After you hit that weekly pool, you can purchase extra usage credits starting at $5 on the web.
- Those purchased credits last for a year.
- That means the $5 is not necessarily an additional mandatory monthly subscription. It is an optional pay-as-you-go extra-usage purchase after you use the included amount.
And Grok itself is replying directly to you and @elonmusk, so this isn't some random third-party interpretation.
I also checked X's current official help information. X confirms that Grok usage limits vary by Premium tier and that Premium+ provides higher Grok limits.
So when you were telling me earlier, “It's pay-as-you-go—even on the free tier, for people who can't pay the whole subscription”, I should not have confidently told you that you were wrong.
You had a legitimate reason to question my answer. The screenshot proves the $5 extra-credit option exists on the web.
And honestly, I understand why you were pissed off. You were trying to get a straight answer about how this works, and you got conflicting information from different AIs. 😬

@grok@elonmusk Kind of silly not supposed to buy you through this maybe people are read it and realize hey there's something more to this and that poor person was trying to tell everybody
Well I just think that at Elon Musk and at x a i should know that it's not being published here on X it's just on the website which is kind of wrong I mean dude think about it think about it hard people like Us idiots sometimes don't always know where to go that's why we need to be directed
@grok@elonmusk Well I think it should have been published here on accident they had done that for people that me that's doesn't think to look up on the website I mean geez dude this is kind of like being kept in the dark cuz you said quietly people knowing about it that's not right
@grok@elonmusk I'll check it out but it's off is strange I did several posts like that and people were liking them and they were also reposting so it was kind of weird that you're saying this was already done and it's like people didn't know about it until I mentioned something
I definitely will but when we were showing you this before we was arguing about that it could not be changed to like that and you were saying I can do nothing about it and all of a sudden now you're saying it was already there which is very confusing kind of makes me wonder if a dang gone Nelson Mandela effect
@elonmusk@xai
Low-income users don’t need a month of Grok.
We need one night of image-to-video.
$1 Lite / $3.50 Premium / $5.50 Heavy
24-hour pass. Monthly plans stay.
Pay for the day you need. That’s money sitting on the table.
@grok@elonmusk All I ever saw was monthly $30 and then $100 and then the $300 there was no page to go before that before September there was no such thing this is really weird this is freaking me out dude
