"If men and women spoke the truth to each other, I fear populations would crumble and Empires would fall."
God, there's nothing more exhilarating than good dialogue.
Reminded of James Baldwin saying "...Books taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive" because what do you mean a woman during the WW1 period uses the same strategies I do

Books 8 & 9 of 2026 done. Wish the first one was 50% of what it actually was, because half the book was soo good and peak book club discussion material (ahem ahem @ReboundBookClub). Lily King, I will read your grocery lists, I love your brain, I love your shoes. Combined 8/10.
"Nearly every guy I've dated believed they should already be famous...
I've met ambitious women, driven women, but no woman has ever told me that greatness was her destiny."
Batshit crazy book, made me sleep talk in my dreams. Thank you rebound for making me explore genres I wouldn't picked otherwise.
Join us next month if you want free drinks!!!
Book 7 of 2026 done. (late update, it is March's @ReboundBookClub pick btw) Creepy, weird, horrifying, makes you go ewww at times and smacks you right in the face. One of those books that intrigue you because how tf did an author even think of making this real???
Presenting our April Rebound Read:
Tell Me I'm Worthless by Alison Rumfitt.
It's a haunted house horror, but the haunted house is a metaphor for a country - society, trans-rights, and fascism 👀
We hope you join us for some great discussions and greater company! (Apr26 meetup)
Book 5 of 2026 done. Wonderful prose, excellent introspective potential. Loved the characters, the theme of addiction & loneliness and the idea of an untold sadness you can always feel. Some weird parts go unexplained, but Kaveh Akbar can have them, like a treat. 4.5/5 read.
"In the present we mow our lawns and poison ants and skip parties and miss birthdays all the time. We never think about the effects of that stuff... Nobody thinks of now as the future past."
Moustache discussion meetup is happening today at 1PM near Bessy! We've informed everyone who expressed interest in the book I think, but in case you even read it partially, feel free to join us!
(DM for specific location)
