@FlaglerSoup@FlaglerSchools So sad to see you go, but I agree that @FlaglerSchools is in great hands with @lmoore_edu at the helm. Thank you for your time with us. Your service and dedication to our schools made a positive impact in the lives of our students and staff.
This is so beautiful. Libraries need to represent their patrons…not just one subset of their patrons. We need to be affirming for all the students who walk through our doors. They are all important and valuable and loved. Any other option is unacceptable.
@frankstrong@TLT16 This is unacceptable. When an informed committee puts in the time & effort to defend a book & determines it is appropriate, overturning that is appalling. People w/ degrees in pedagogy, literature, & library science should be respected as experts in their fields.
@shaleahxrose This editorial sums up so much of what we’re going through in education. Now is the time for people who believe public school teachers & librarians are still protecting and educating students to speak up. Otherwise, I believe we are witnessing the dismantling of public education.
@WriteinBK This breaks my heart. I have a class set of this book and doubt any teacher will want to use it after this. We are professionals with degrees and years of experience—but we are being silenced by fear and extremism.
I loved teaching English bc students discuss topics & learn to support arguments w/ text. We’re living in a dystopian novel & being told certain thoughts & discussions are wrong & dangerous. When teachers & librarians are being attacked, we should all be afraid of what comes next
@BBoss12345 @RoeKiera @FlaglerSchools@FPCHS We will miss you. @FPCHS but so happy for your new journey! You will continue to make a difference in the lives of others.
This is terrifying. As a parent, a Christian, and a school librarian, I could not have imagined this taking place. A couple years ago, my biggest worry over books was people getting angry over weeding the library. Fahrenheit 451 and Nazi-like book burnings were not on my mind.
This happened about a mile from my house tonight. Book burning. Harry Potter. Twilight. Anything else deemed demonic. Some say to ignore the madman who leads this congregation. But how can one be silent? What/who gets burned next? @TheTNHoller
