To celebrate #Xbox25 and all of the renewed excitement around @Xbox, I want to share an updated look at my collection!
Some of it is nearly 25 years old (with some rarities) and quite a few things are from those amazing trips to Los Angeles for E3 / #XboxFanFest years ago.
@jeffrubenstein@CoalitionGears@GearsofWar Sweet! The gameplay was so good, and the Direct so well done. Usually I like to go into games mostly unaware of what anything looks like, etc, but the way they explained things mixed with the production of the Direct is one of those times it all has enhanced the later enjoyment.
Amen to that!
In July 2023 when he announced his departure, I had just walked into an outdoor stadium festival for The Killers, my favorite band since 04. I had tears in my eyes for the next hour that afternoon as I stood there in the crowd thinking back to all the memories with Major. Thankfully it was somewhat raining because I was really sad at this ending of an era.
I thought back to the decade+ of being a fan of his before finally meeting him in 2015, and then the many years since then with him always being so great.
I'd met a hero of mine and it was always a wonderful experience, even with him always being so busy in the moments I'd catch him at events. He was a master at this stuff and always made me feel special - especially when chosen to play Halo with him on stage in Orlando. That had been the final time I'd ever seen him, four years prior, almost to the exact day in July 2019.
Then yesterday happened. I was able to walk out into the lobby of the venue just after the Showcase, and see him talking to us with a mic again - just like back in the day! To make it all even more special, this was behind him in the Xbox 360 area as a callback to The Killers being the band that played the Xbox 360 reveal event in May 2005.
One of the coolest moments of my life, all thanks to XBOX yet again. Usually you only get a return like that in something like a TV, film, or a game - but this was real, and it means a lot!
Whoa. There's so much to say about what went on today at the #XBOXShowcase and #XboxFanFest. One of the best days of my life... So many cool moments and memories that I'll look back on forever. It was my favorite since the E3 days, and the best Showcase I've ever seen XBOX put on.
I'm so thankful and grateful I was able to attend. I'll be posting more soon about my favorite moments and pictures from the event. For me it was all the magic of an E3 week packed into one single day. I didn't think I'd ever truly feel that way again. I'm just blown away by how good of a job they did with everything from the show to the in-person event.
Thank you @XBOX and @asha_shar for such an amazing experience and yet another incredible year of gaming.
For a while now I've considered 2026 the best year gaming has ever had and it just keeps on delivering - largely in part of what XGS is bringing to the industry. The games about to hit us during the second half of the year look SO good.
And the best surprise... @majornelson was there!!! I was as shocked as I was when Keanu Reeves was suddenly on the XBOX stage in 2019. Us in the crowd today were seconds removed from finding out about the #XBOX25 console, when I looked up and there is Major on stage in front of me!
I thought I'd never see him again in my life, and there he was! The last time I saw him was back in July 2019 when we played Halo together on stage at Halo Outpost in Orlando. That was a great final moment of that was to be truly it, but still, it was sad to think it was all over when he left three years ago.
I had a chance to see him a few times throughout today and I'll have a special post dedicated to all that coming later this week.
Going into the event this year I kept feeling that 2015 first-time magic again from my first trip to LA for XBOX. I didn't know why, I figured it was because it was my first time going since moving last year, or just my own nostalgia for those prior times, but this event and the happenings within it completely have me feeling like I did that first time back in 2015. There's been infinite great memories since then too, but still, this was so special today and brought back people and feelings I thought were basically a lifetime ago and never to return.
I already love gaming, always have, always will, and these kind of events and memories just make it even better year-round. It was so good to see everyone, and meet so many for the first time too. I'm so glad I chose XBOX as my gaming platform all those years ago. Lots more to share soon!
@SillyAaronMan@Halo I think an XBOX dev kit. It looked like what the hardware always looks like at events like this playing unreleased games, but I'm not an expert on all that.
@Fritzster@Halo I'm not sure but I'd assume so. The control scheme had been changed to something weird by someone before me so I wasn't playing my usual way for a bjt or else I'd maybe have noticed more details about sprint. I know that I did enjoy it being there! The Hunters were whooping me.
Amen to that!

@ShadowWadow0711@Halo I don't even want to spoil all the little things that surprised me. It's just so good. It feels unbelievable that the whole rest of the game awaits, and the epic looking prequel missions. And the best part is that it's all just a few weeks away!
@Mr_Admirals@Halo I think the demo ended as soon as I got on the back of the Pelican and flew away, so it didn't show the beginning cutscene for Assault on the Control Room. I would assume all that is the same, except the cutscene is going to look incredible. This game has the full treatment!
@ske7ch It was so good to see, and then actually play! What a dream come true for what I was hoping this trip to LA would entail. I even got to talk to my Halo Outpost stage opponent @Unyshek for the first time in seven years moments before I played! So awesome.
I think I have a new favorite picture to use as a Gamerpic! Thank you to whoever these two are! What a rare treat to get a picture with a Cortana, and no doubt the best one I've ever seen! Thank you! ๐
