At my celebration this week, my mother recounted a phone call I made to her 23 years ago…”Mom, I almost died last night…I think I need to go away.”
This works. Show up for yourself. Show up for each other. #neveralone#recovery
@Sir_Tom_Malory I’ve often described my experience as having a schism in my brain/self/psyche - it is always there and unless I use the rooms/other addicts to get those thoughts into the open I fear they will consume me. Sharing. This has worked for over 20 years. #JFT
@Sir_Tom_Malory This is a great rundown. Cocaine is the worst. The experience of hearing the birds start chirping as the sun rises while im still awake but out of coke and basically want to die but also need to try to sleep for an hour so I can go to work. WTF? And the disease still whispers.
@PolishAndy Thank you for this post Andy. I am over 20 years in recovery but this sex and love stuff continues to plague me. I’ve have had some good periods of #slaa recovery but am currently hitting a new bottom. #spiritualmalady
I’m over 22 years in recovery and I can still feel like everything is broken. I can lose gratitude and pick out all the things I find wrong with my life. Anyone ever feel this way? #RecoveryPosse

I’ve been angry. Mostly at my kids. Sometimes my wife. I caught a glimpse of myself and thought, “you’re becoming a dry drunk.” I’m losing the thread on practicing these principles.
@Addictivist Great question. Hard to answer with one. But I’ll give it a go…
Meetings.
Maybe too easy but my recovery is doomed without ‘em. It’s where I heard the messages that saved me from myself…and continue to do so.
Just came from my home group. Two of the newer members, both in their early 20s, are no longer with us. Two overdoses in the span of a week. I’m so sad. Please keep coming. Don’t use. Go to meetings. Talk to other recovering people. Please. #addiction

saw someone post the question, “what’s your most challenging character defect?” Lost the tweet but feel the need to answer: Envy
comparing and wanting and the fantasy I build ⬆️ in my mind about how someone else exists. And the lack of gratitude!
It has gotten better 🙏🏻 🙂
@freeyourghost I often say at meetings that one of the benefits of recovery/sobriety is the gift of living this life with the full range of emotions available to us humans. I hear you! #letgo#recoverylife
