The stress and pressure of the final months of my PhD are unlike any I have felt before. I have caught myself wondering things like if I had just worked a *little* harder for the last 5 years, would I be coastin' outta this PhD like 🏄♀️ ? The short answer is no. Why? 👇

Today, January 1, 2020 is my first day of freedom, so to speak.
Yesterday was my last official day in academia & in my diversity leadership role.
I felt suffocated by not being able to speak the truth about racism & sexism embedded in institutional culture.
Today, I am free.
When I left academia I assumed that I would go back to the pre-academic couple-of-days break over the holidays. Instead, I ended up at a company that gives the 24th thru the 1st off. And I have loads of PTO so I now have two weeks straight off all paid. #fuckyeah
