Welcome to The Recruiting Room.
I’m a college scout, former NCAA coach, and current high school football coach. I created this page to give athletes and families honest, practical recruiting advice based on real evaluation and recruiting experience.
Here you’ll find:

My goal isn’t to tell every athlete they’re Division I.
It’s to help athletes find the right fit, understand the recruiting process, and maximize their opportunities.
Follow along, ask questions, and let’s make the recruiting process a little less confusing.
If you’re a rising junior or senior, ask yourself these 3 questions:
✅ Is my highlight tape updated?
✅ Do I know my current GPA?
✅ Have I contacted any college coaches this month?
If you answered “no” to any of them, that’s where you should start.
Recruiting rewards athletes who are proactive, not just talented.
If a college coach asks for your transcript…
That’s a good thing.
It usually means they’re seeing if you’re an academic fit before investing more time in recruiting you.
Keep your grades up and have an updated transcript ready to send.
Preparation creates opportunities.
Coaches don’t just evaluate your highlight tape.
They evaluate:
✅ Your GPA
✅ Your body language
✅ How your coaches talk about you
✅ Your social media
✅ How you communicate
Recruiting starts long before a coach offers you.
Start acting like a college athlete today.
Before you send your film to another college coach, ask yourself:
✅ Is my GPA listed?
✅ Is my graduation year listed?
✅ Is my position listed?
✅ Is my height & weight listed?
✅ Is my contact information included?
Great film gets attention.
Complete information makes it easier for coaches to recruit you.
Stop asking coaches,
“Have you watched my film yet?”
Instead ask:
“Coach, I’d appreciate any feedback you have on my film. Is there anything I can improve to become a recruit for your program?”
That question starts a conversation.
The first one usually ends it.
Recruiting is about building relationships, not just getting views.
Don’t send your film to 300 schools.
Send it to the right schools.
Recruiting isn’t about getting the most eyes on your film.
It’s about getting the right coaches to watch it.
Fit > Volume.
Don’t wait until you need offers to start building relationships.
The best time to introduce yourself to coaches was months ago.
The second-best time is today.
If you’re paying to attend camps hoping coaches from other colleges will see you, you’re likely wasting your time.
College coaches can only evaluate prospects at camps hosted on their own campus during this period.
Be strategic with your time and money.
The right camp at the right school is always better than just another camp.
Recruiting isn’t about one great camp, one highlight, or one email.
It’s about what you do every single day.
The athletes who consistently:
✅ Improve their film
✅ Communicate with coaches
✅ Take care of their academics
✅ Develop their skills
put themselves in the best position to play at the next level.
Consistency creates opportunity.
💬 Which of these five habits are you focusing on the most right now?
Stop asking…
“Why haven’t I gotten an offer?”
Start asking…
“What can I improve before the next coach watches my film?”
Every time a coach clicks your Hudl, you have an opportunity.
Make sure your:
✅ Film is updated
✅ GPA is listed
✅ X profile is complete
✅ Communication is professional
You can’t control every recruiting decision.
You can control how prepared you are when your opportunity comes.
👇 What’s one thing you’re working on this season?
Before you ask…
“Can I play Division I?”
Ask yourself:
• Have I maxed out my GPA?
• Is my film truly my best?
• Have I consistently contacted coaches?
• Have I attended the right camps?
• Am I open to the right fit and not just the biggest name?
Most athletes don’t miss opportunities because of talent.
They miss opportunities because they don’t have a plan.
Recruiting rewards preparation.
👇 What’s your biggest question about the recruiting process?
Stop comparing your offers to everyone else’s.
Someone else’s journey has nothing to do with yours.
Focus on:
✅ Improving your film
✅ Getting stronger
✅ Raising your GPA
✅ Communicating with coaches
The right offer at the right school is better than the wrong offer at the biggest school.
Run your own race.
👇 What’s one thing you’re working to improve before the season starts?
If a college coach called you today…
Could you answer these 5 questions?
✅ Why do you want to attend our school?
✅ What do you want to study?
✅ What makes you a great teammate?
✅ What are your goals after football?
✅ Why should we recruit YOU?
Your film gets the call.
Your preparation helps keep the conversation going.
👇 Which one of these questions would be the hardest for you to answer?
Before you hit SEND on that recruiting email…
Ask yourself:
✅ Is my Hudl updated?
✅ Does my X profile have all my information?
✅ Am I emailing the correct position coach?
✅ Did I personalize the message?
Five extra minutes can make a huge difference!
If you’re emailing a coach every week…
and nothing is changing.
Stop sending the same email.
Instead, send an UPDATE:
🏈 New film
📈 New GPA
💪 New measurables
