My question is… why don’t they use the original assets to begin with? Why do they need to genAI-upscale AT ALL, when the original artwork was obv very clear and detailed? Nomura can’t have drawn with JPEG levels of compression/noise; like there MUST be high-res files out there.
@BB_Luffyxx "But I understand nostalgia" Imagine throwing entire game genres that are defined by their limitations including the classic Zeldas under the bus because that's old hat. Get fucking real. Freedom in games isn't a net positive; not necessarily a "more = better" deal
I know Sora's been beaten and battered and knocked and stabbed and killed across several games, but being thrown into and shattering window glass somehow feels extra visceral 🚑
U kinda got to wonder how this even happened. I get that the PS2 has unportable black magic transparency effects or whatever but surely it wouldn’t have been too hard to just not make my boy look all fucked up and weird, right?
I think people need to be way more wary of just saying something is completely AI generated because artists do make mistakes even in finished products and its not rare.
Go back and look at some Disney art and animation from the 90s and there is quite a bit on official work
So basically, Nomura made real art, and then Square went behind him, added AI to his work, made zero statement of doing so, and called it a day?
You don't hate these people enough
counter strike is a beautiful game because it's basically a mixture of chess and gambling. however, low-level play is indistinguishable from a dream where you are punching someone and your fists turn to marshmallows
