It’s more like the opposite of that, for a wide variety of reasons.
Yes, the IPOs will make many people a lot of money.
But the price discovery ride on the other side of the fomo frenzy will be extremely volatile and choppy. Short sellers are going to get their fill at this all you can eat buffet, too.
He’s really just trying to cook for his buddies also for the massive investments made by Nvidia in these companies.
It’s the opposite of an activist short seller. He’s a very motivated and invested party to the IPOs.
It’s both heartbreaking and frustrating to think of how far the whole western world has fallen since the end of WWII.
We were once a brave and noble people. Winners. Unapologetic and capable. Disciplined and intelligent. Humbled and faithful before God.
Since that time, it’s quite literally all been down hill.
I’m not entirely sure why though. The myriad factors are complex and interwoven. Detangling this noise is a non-linear, imprecise artistic process.
However, the question of today remains unambiguously clear: why have the leaders in America and Europe become so weak and so corrupt and such spineless apologetic cucks to the whole world?
For decades now, the USA has been on a military offensive bender, one quagmire after the next, all for sake of profit, or profoundly foolish ideological reasons (still tied to profit), or at the petty behest of foreign interests (also inseparable from profit), since the end of WWII with each of these US led wars and operations resulting in staggering losses of human life, costing working class taxpayers trillions in accumulated debt (manifesting as the insidious, hyper compounding inflationary tax which is brutally regressive by design), all while accomplishing absolutely nothing save for the creation of obscene profits for those in servitude to the military industrial complex.
President and General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Supreme Leader of the Allied Expeditionary Force during WWII, warned us all about this in his Presidential farewell address. Americans, near fully intellectually and spiritually lobotomized by the circus and the bread alike, hardly took any notice. I doubt most even heard it at the time or understood what it meant.
As the boomers in Kentucky just reminded us with Massie’s primary defeat, there aren’t enough Americans left with the intelligence, self-respect, and wherewithal to do anything remotely effective about all of this. What hurts most is the self-respect. Even absent a (real) formal education, there is enough information derived from daily experience available to the ordinary citizen to know Americans are being systematically exploited. So as to why there is so little self-respect, I can’t explain that pathology. I just see it, I know what it looks like and how it manifests in the culture, and I lament it deeply.
And so it keeps happening, and will continue unabated, as far more than half the country is spiritually retarded, larping as patriots, or larping as social justice activists, or some other manufactured identity in between, blissfully unaware or wildly ignorant of how little those whom they willingly serve (getting nothing of actual value in return) think about them.
Madness. Sadness. And so much confusion.
The state of America speaks for itself, yet far too few even know how to listen, and even less with the ability to understand what it means.
An AGI model that can listen while it thinks is generally called a human being.
It’s going to come full circle that humans working with humans is actually already optimized for maximum productivity at the scale in which resources and society can tolerate.
We use and have used the compute tools to augment tasks we are best equipped doing together. However, almost all of the most important and impressive things humanity has ever achieved and accomplished, we’ve done without computers, or computers with very limited but reliable capabilities for specific engineered applications.
Of course scaled automation of things highly repetitive and highly precise is work best designed for robotics, but the whole soft world of the choices that matter and the tastes that make life beautiful and interesting and the decisions with real work outcomes where accountability is paramount are best achieved and suited for human beings.
In other words, AGI is already solved. It’s been solved for a few hundred thousand years.
Whatever the hyper-scalers are trying to solve (beyond synthetic glitching past H-1B overhead costs), I think it is being lost in the mad rush for cash raises that there is no coherent direction and no coherent business model.
They’ve promised so many things we already have, things we don’t need, all while ensuring net negative and non-profitable outcomes for most people and the planet as a whole.
It’s an awfully sloppy paradigm behind the glaze of it all. And there’s so much self serving glazing in circular jerking fashion in the industry that it’s shameful and embarrassing.
There is no coherent objective. The rhetoric is changing weekly based on the algorithmic vibes. Notice how they’re all now saying AI won’t be a job’s killer. Absurdity all around. They’re trying to be everything, by promising the whole world, and having failed to deliver, thus being nothing particularly helpful or valuable at all.
Or at the very least, nothing that we couldn’t live without and have as equally and in many regards better qualities of life without. That’s a fairly uncommon and unsettling reality that we can’t expect those billions deep into this to ever honestly admit.
The desperation to get the world hooked on AI must continue to be intellectually, morally, spiritually, and politically rejected.
As a sub-niche of internet culture, it has room to be and thrive. As a value add for employers, it has the potential to help businesses do more with the staff they have. Ultimately, what we likely need the AI for most is advanced robotics for dangerous jobs, space travel, and the like, in addition to cutting edge medicine and scientific research.
But as an anti-God idol, an end all be all to the economy, a forced social requirement, a mass displacement agent of human employment, a cyber security threat without equal, etc., etc., we do not need any of that. The worst impulses and capabilities of AI, specifically those who are at the helm of the big companies pushing this dizzying spell the hardest, must be held accountable to the people who will be left to bear the burden of their antinatalism & hubristic delights.
I would consider a television.
Gaming monitors are way over built for all but the most elite pc gamers who actually need cutting edge hardware.
Consider something like the LG Class B4 Series (OLED 4K UHD). 48” is actually a ton of fun to get more immersion and you’re really not sacrificing anything from a technical standpoint and you get a lot more utility per dollar spent.
Just some food for thought.
@BretWeinstein Excellent insight, Bret! 🤣🤦♂️
I suspect it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Hunter has grown a little bit impatient with the most corrupt, incompetent, and perverted people in the world treating him as some sort of political punching for being a former addict.
It’s actually crazy that the Trumps managed to convince people that the “Biden crime family” was a real thing, while simultaneously grifting harder than any Presidential family in the history of the nation.
It’s truly unbelievable.
And to be honest, I wouldn’t mind if they were actually helping. But so, this second term has been a catastrophic economic failure.
One of the worst openers of any Administration. And it looks like prices are going to continue to compound well above wage increases. Tragic af.
People need help and the Trump Administration is lost in the Middle East while his family are building mansions and selling gold.
MAGA…
Silence can help us most to recognize the voice of God, since it fosters attention and recollection. Freed from the noise of a thousand voices, we come to recognize that some voices deceive our desires, others buy us without nourishing us, and still others speak out of self-interest. In silence, we understand that ideologies pass away, while truth remains. https://t.co/lbaMqHx1cJ
