Been called a “ginger cringe lord” | Giving the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake | Pretty much just an AEW fan now | I have not two but three hats
I primarily tweet about politics and pro wrestling (with a smattering of random pop culture). One of these topics gives me hope for our future as a civil society at a rate slightly greater than that at which the other makes me despair.
Senators elected this fall will be in office when the SocSec trust fund hits insolvency. So it *should* be a major campaign issue.
But few voters care. They have their silly narratives ("stop stealing the trust fund,") & fake solutions ("remove the cap"). But, y'all were warned.
We are ten years into allegations of widespread election fraud - only for elections Trump or republicans lose, mind you - for which Trump and allies have either not produced evidence, or claimed evidence which was subsequently debunked. And blatant contradictions - such as celebrating wins under the same laws and practices while confidently declaring theft for any losses - are now the norm.
When I was a kid who already liked Superman, the show was a lot of fun. It’s a perfectly solid adaptation that has some strong, highs, but little about it is definitive in the way that Batman TAS is.
IMO they’re wrong about Dragunov, but the bigger issue here is that the Higher Ups don’t believe anyone who’s not a “top guy” is worth investing in creatively.
That stuff hollows out a locker room. You need steady veterans and fan favorites even if they’ll never main-event WM.
@Kriegler007 “What do you see, when you’re in the dark and the demons come?”
“I see you, Frank. I see you standing over the grave of another dead president.”
@filmingwanderer An officer who can’t handle malcontents until they’re actually exchanging gunfire has done a poor job, regardless of who’s in the wrong.
@filmingwanderer I’ll generally defend TLJ but the problem with Holdo’s story is that the movie seems unaware every mutiny is fundamentally a command failure.
Once it became clear that Poe believed Holdo was going to get them all killed, he needed to be either in the loop or in the brig.
@questionableway There is a pathological need on the anti-anti-Trump right to believe that there is some concrete point in the near future where the party will just snap back to being its pre-2016 self.
This delusion has been been enormously helpful to MAGA for obvious reasons.
@ADHDSapphic@TheDougFiles For a certain type of online viewer, a film’s narrative is treated as if it’s a logic problem, and any character choice other than the most logical/efficient solution to that problem is called a “plot hole”.
The problem with this is that most people correctly understand this affair to actually be a celebration of Trump that merely appropriates patriotic symbolism for his aggrandizement. And they are right. It's just silly to deny this is happening when Trump is pushing to put his name and face on everything, including our currency. MAGA conflates patriotism with subservience to Trump. Everyone else sees that and says, "Pass."
@atrupar We may have had worse Speakers in terms of policy or personal character, but there’s never been one more deliberately destructive for the institution than Mike Johnson.
His explicit goal is to make sure his own branch is as neutered as possible.
