The team are hard at work preparing our announcement trailer. Keep an eye out this coming week for it!
There may be some sneak peeks of some of the... larger denizens of the Abyss.
Since you all liked the waterfall art so much, here it is now with extra water fall.
Also technically the first sneak peek at our announcement trailer π€«
Abyss embraces dark and surreal themes at times - but we started out with the principle that "scary" doesn't mean it can't be beautiful.
Graves of the sirens in one of our combat environments in engine. We'll show some first looks at combat this week!
Here you can see one of our player characters, Aisling, realising that allowing the devs to write placeholder quest text in the expedition base was quite the error
A hand drawn aesthetic is key to Abyss. We're blending 2D characters in 3D environments to create a unique look for our turn based combat - here's a screenshot of Aisling mid-block in our current build!
Abyss is about exploring strange and unique biomes, reached by breaching a ethereal pocket that only appears every 200 years.
Each area brings with it it's own aesthetic and storylines! This is concept work for the third area the player encounters, the Sunken Temple.
Something is stirring...
We're extremely excited to start sharing details of our first title, Abyss, very soon!
A hand drawn dark fantasy RPG, Abyss features turn based combat, and a strong focus on the party and their stories.
One thing we decided early on is to reinforce the characters in every layer of the game. Human stories are at the core of what we want to make.
We're making unique UIs depending on who you are controlling in combat - here's a look at the current versions for Aisling & Doran!
First look into one of our non-combat scenes for our prototype! Are we really making an RPG if we don't have a blacksmith's shop?
Bringing our mix of hand painted art styles into as much of the game as we can. Obviously WIP and all that.
What an exciting and fulfilling #GDC2024

GDC was great, it was amazing to finally meet some of our team in person!
We had some fantastic meetings, learned a lot, and now it's time to go home, more motivated than ever to get back to work on our game.
