Our disaster volunteers assisted 10 people who were affected by a home fire on Cambridge St in Cambridge Tuesday. We anticipate more clients today as damage to the multi-unit building is fully assessed. Volunteers provided comfort, next-step advice and financial support.

Our volunteers are at the MA National Cemetery in Bourne this morning, supporting flag placements on markers in honor of Memorial Day. The last Monday in May is a time for our nation to remember the men and women of our armed forces who gave their lives in service to the nation.

This week, Central-Western's Luca Calvani presented the Athol Fire Department with an award for their work with our Home Fire Campaign. Lives were saved in two instances in Athol where Red Cross smoke alarms alerted families to a fire in their homes.
