As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of severe weather events in the UK, the risks are growing. Our new report shows that the ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from flooding is not experienced equally by all communities. ⬇️
This research shines a light on the experiences of people in the UK facing socioeconomic disadvantage, who have lived through devastating flooding. It reveals a stark reality: those least able to cope with the impact of flooding are often the least able to access support. ⬇️

This afternoon our UK Director for Refugee Support and Restoring Family Links, Alex Fraser, gave evidence to the @CommonsHomeAffs to inform its inquiry into asylum accommodation 🧵
He went on to note that people seeking asylum often find themselves left 'out of sight' in unsafe or isolated accommodation. This can adversely affect their wellbeing.
Improved safeguarding and clear accountability structures are key to addressing this, he says.
