@cwestonclark @Shrink_at_Large It’s very easy for people who are ideologically opposed to the legitimacy of depression to go “Oh, you’re not taking drugs for it, you must be fine!” Indeed, it happened to me when I stopped taking antidepressants 20 years ago, and the ableism has only got worse since then.

In the case of the opioid crisis, you have a medical community in the US now so scared to prescribe (legitimately needed) opiates, that people are managing end stage cancer with paracetamol.

@EastMidRailway I have a ticket for the 18.32 St Pancras > Sheffield train, which has been cancelled. Being disabled, I was concerned about overcrowding on the following train, so jumped on the 18.02, but didn’t have time to ask staff whether my ticket would be accepted. Will it?

@CrossCountryUK Yes. He says there are seats further down (seems doubtful, the train is crammed), and he will come back to help me move when he has checked tickets. He may decide against it, but it’s caused unnecessary anxiety. I assumed “assistance put me here” was a legitimate reason!

@CrossCountryUK My train was cancelled and the one I am on is like a sardine tin. Because I need a seat, disabled assistance put me in 1st class. Now an inspector is telling me I need to pay an upgrade or move (I’m not sure I can even safely make it through the crowd).

@Jedirev @chenphilosophy @historykev I think one CAN choose both. It’s just that our inherently ableist society, riddled with “useless eaters” style propaganda, WON’T.
We’ve got a lot of fixing to do before we can be trusted with assisted dying. And that makes me sad for both sides of the debate.

Like, never mind that your driver broke the law by picking up an unbooked fare, left a disabled woman in a position which caused her intense pain, and wasted hours of her time, at least you didn’t charge her for the privilege.

I know this won’t make the top 1000 Uber horror stories, but my driver just picked up a different person and left me stranded in the cold for an hour, and @UberUKI_Support seem to think I should be grateful they refunded the trip I didn’t take.
