@andycherenfant_ Agree, involving beats lecturing. One easy way in: give kids a small budget for a family day out and let them plan where it goes. Running out before the ice cream teaches more than any talk.

@stevehaners_ Agree. Compounding clicks for kids when they can see it: a jar where you add a small "interest" coin every week on what's already inside. Watching the bonus grow does more than any formula.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@MMdinginya28474 Love seeing this in schools. Picking a company they already know, then watching how it moves for a few weeks, makes the market feel real. Did the kids choose brands they use every day?

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@marinettivd8jn Needs vs wants clicks fastest at the shops. Before anything goes in the trolley, kids ask one quick question: "Need it or want it?" A few trips in, they start asking it before you do.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@dijyasmine She came prepared 😂 Since it's her own savings, one question that helps before a big buy: "If you get the bag, what else has to wait?" Whatever she decides, it's her call and her lesson.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@olajideobe Love that she took it straight to the head teacher for a ruling 😄 A fun next step: let her plan how the £10 stretches over four days, and the other £40 waits at home for something she chooses after the trip.

Sunday pocket money tip: give the week's amount in one go. 🪙

Let your child plan it to last till Saturday. If it's gone by Wednesday, skip the top-up. A few tight days teach more than a lecture.

Daily or weekly pocket money at your place?

Weekend idea: set up a play shop at home. 🍎🤖

Round 1: swaps only. An apple for a robot, anyone?
Round 2: add a few play coins and trade again.

Kids discover why money was invented.

Which round got more giggles at your place?

@edgaralandough Ours is "Is this a need or a want?" Kids start asking it themselves after a while, at the shop, at birthdays, even about snacks. Love that your 6-year-old is starting to get yours.

@kidsmarkets Running a booth teaches so much in one afternoon: pricing, giving change, talking to strangers, and seeing what sells. A quick chat afterwards about what they would change next time turns the day into a real lesson.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@brodfitz Pretend portfolios are such a good starting point. Letting kids pick a company they already know, like the brand behind their favourite snack, and check on it once a month makes the idea of owning a piece of something feel real.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@CNBCMakeIt Siblings are an underrated money classroom. Younger kids watch how older ones save, spend and recover from mistakes, often more closely than they watch parents. Talking through those moments out loud makes the lesson stick for both.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@Educator_Lawal Well said. The flip side is that kids who watch parents plan, save and talk openly about trade-offs pick up the habit early. Building your own safety net is also a money lesson they see every day.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@tonyjonesinri This is the part parents can actually use. If you say "we'll get it on Saturday", follow through on Saturday. Kept promises teach kids that waiting pays off, and their patience grows from there.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@EaddaKids "Acknowledge the want" does a lot of work here. A line that helps at home: "You really like that. Shall we add it to your wish list and look again on Saturday?" Often the want fades, and when it doesn't, it becomes a savings goal.

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

@KidsRemoteHQ Thinking a week ahead is the real win. Once kids can see payday coming, they start planning small purchases on their own instead of asking on the spot.

@elonmusk Waaaaaaaaaooooooo

[Red Fun Planet 🪐 Kids' Money & Life Skills @RedFunPlanet]

Ang bao money feels "free" — but a coin earned and a coin gifted spend the same. 🧧

Before the next red packet or birthday gift, ask together: "What is this for?"

Parents, how do you talk about gift money at home?

@EamonnClark Haze days are tough with kids stuck indoors. A pretend shop with handmade price tags is a surprisingly good indoor game, and it sneaks in some maths too.
