MLM is the highest theoretical development of Marxism and is the highest development of Revolutionary theory. Red Guard's common goal is the fight for Marxist-Leninist-Maoist theoretical hegemony in the left and in mainstream political discourse. Organize, Educate, Agitate.
Marxism is near unmatched in its explanatory power. It is unique in its ability to bring principled theoretical explanations to politics, sociology, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, history, economics etc.
Marxism is the pinnacle of social science, nothing comes close
Canada is the first of many recessions the come in an impending depression. Marxists need to be ready to capitalize on this crisis or reactionaries will.
@teethmonger Yes, I would read a Critique of Soviet Economics, The Great Debate or Stand for Socialism against modern revisionism. I am also about to finish a substack post about this exact topic.
Most Marxist-Leninists have a shockingly unmarxist analysis of past socialist experiments. It is true that Western pressure massively contributed to large scale failures, this does not mean there were not internal contradictions. Historical happenstance is not a Marxist analysis.
This is not "Tailism" we are meeting the people where their political conscious lies. Assuming the people are ready for Marxism in any way is commandist.
Winning Counter-Hegemony is also largely about messaging. Marxists have had the "correct" takes for years, yet no hegemony.
This is not cultural hegemony, this is tailism and not something we should be quite or pragmatic about.
How do you suppose we win this cultural hegemony if not through principled struggle and correct analysis of the current state of society?
Marxist-Leninists need to accept that the vanguard party is not an infallible object. It can, has, and will be corrupted and co-opted, in the course of achieving communism. This dogmatic attachment is unmarxist. The beating heart of any Marxist movement is solely the proletariat.
The US economy is on the brink of a massive crisis, the US empire is violently lashing out against a shifting global order, and the US decent into facism could not be coming faster. It is imperative Marxists rapidly develop
the apparatus to claw back power in the following years.
@redunionism@JulahautT I agree. When I say the "left" I mean various marxists circles. Nobody said we need to sit and debate, we do however need to be present in discourse with correct theoretical insights. This is a mischaracterization.
If us Maoists want to embody the mass movement we first need to win cultural hegemony WITHIN the left. There can be no major mainstream wins without becoming the predominant voice of Marxism. We cannot isolate ourselves to niche online circles, we need to win the left's voice
Nobody said we need to sit and debate, I said we need to achieve cultural hegemony, part of that is organizing, part of that is being present in discourse with correct theoretical insights. While the PCP was a correct struggle, their movement suffered from ML competition as well.
To build a movement in Peru the PCP didn't stay in Limaβs Marxist circles they went to the countryside. The CPPh didn't debate revisionists in Manila, they went to the masses.
The only way to win hegemony among the βleftβ is by organizing the working class for revolution.
@Bigmonger Yes, I agree in large part it was. However, I wanted to make a point beyond simply that. As Maoists, we need to be hyper present in these conversations and push for real influence within marxist circles.
@Bigmonger If these are all highlighted, presented, and communicated correctly the resulting snowball effect will present us with real influence within the left over time.
@Bigmonger Maoists need to be present in almost all relevant discourse, we need to have a correct theoretical answers for various pressing issues, and we need to show exactly why our theoretical line is the correct one within the left. This is all in addition to real organizational efforts.
@GenossinAbigail This is correct, I agree that we need to build the party but these need to be done in tandem. If we have zero
cultural capital compared to ML's or other groups they will out organize and out voice us.
@redunionism@JulahautT I agree but among competing leftist groups what decides who wins organizational (and thereby theoretical) hegemony? Right now Maoists have almost zero cultural hegemony on the left, ML's run laps around our numbers of organizations, cultural critics etc.
@ShoShimizu303 Maoists have to demonstrate and communicate the correct political line, if we are successful in this endeavor those who are genuine proletarians will join. After this if they still retain revisionist principles they become just has much an enemy to the proletariat as any other.
