Two Manchester United derbies. One massive Sunday.
Manchester United Women against Chelsea Women
Manchester United Men against Manchester City Men
Chelsea first. City later. Two huge games, two United teams representing the badge, and two opportunities to make this a day we remember. What a day to be a Manchester United fan. COME ON UNITED!
It's derby day - big match for United, I want the team to show they are ready for the next leap and close the gap on the likes of Citeh.
No sitting back hopefully we take the game to them and try have a big share of the possession also.
A front three if Rashford - Cunha - Mbeumo is what I would start with. #MUFC
58 points with 4 to play and on a massive green arrow so far. Leaf Davis points on the bench quite painful - maybe I get lucky and one of my remaining players doesn't play at all ๐ค๐พ #FPL
My Manchester derby prediction.
Rashford - Sesko- Mbeumo
Mainoo - Bruno- Tielemans
Shaw - Heaven - Maguire - Dalot
I want ล eลกko leading the line, Rashford attacking from the left and Mbeumo stretching City from the right. Bruno between the lines, with Mainoo and Tielemans controlling the midfield. At the back, Iโd trust Shaw, Heaven, Maguire and Dalot. This is my XI. Iโm backing Carrick to get this one right. Manchester is RED.
@FrankEra_ Solid outing for Yoro. That's why it's never a good idea to write off young players like him. The more minutes he gets the better he will become in my view.
Slow start to the game for us , gave Sabah too much on the ball and intensity was quite low - we grew into the game and punished Sabah when they got sloppy.
Great win to on our UCL return. Now the focus shifts to the Manchester derby. #MUFC
United very impressive so far.
Fullbacks and wingers on different lines.
Dorgu often wide with Cunha inside.
Mbeumo wide with Mazraoui inside, although they interchange more on that side.
Bruno close to Sesko. A constant threat in between and in behind the oppositionโs defence with a focal point in Sesko giving the team balance.
Mainoo + Tielemans managing the build-up alongside Yoro and Martinez. Mainoo, Tielemans, and Martinez are all otherworldly with the ball at their feet. They can kill you from anywhere.
Excellent balance.
Itโs a lesson for Carrick - donโt play Rashford and Cunha together because the team is too fluid without that focal point in the #9.
Plus, defensively, there is not enough balance with those two in the team on top of Mbeumo and Bruno.
And, perhaps most interestingly, this is the first time I have ever seen Manchester United press man-to-man under Michael Carrick, so that is definitely something to keep an eye on in future games. It makes a lot of sense to use Cunha inverted to press the centre back with Dorgu jumping to the fullback because Cunha is passive with his press so it limits his running and it increases Dorguโs which is where he excels.
It does mean that Martinez has to manage the left channel himself which is a problem against elite wingers, but itโs nice to see Carrick address the lack of pressure on the ball that has consistently been the case under his tenure.
Excellent first half , slow start but very strong finish. Sesko goal was well taken - great compusure to go around the keeper and slot it into the net.
300 European Cup games. The first English club to reach the milestone.
From Busbyโs boys lifting it in 1968, to Fergusonโs 1999 and 2008 triumphs, Manchester United have a ridiculous history in this competition.
Tonight against Sabah, Carrick starts a new European chapter. Welcome back to the Champions League, Manchester United. Now make Europe remember us.
