"At the end of the day, it is our job to center our students, and that means improving ourselves to set the example for the world they will inherit." @teachntransform
"I do believe that it’s better late than never, but schools must be intentional and thoughtful as they begin this life-long commitment." @teachntransform offers questions educators should be asking as schools embark on anti-racist education work.

If identity development and anti-racist work is important to us we need show it with our priorities and the data we share. "We have to redefine what is achievement and what is success....Collect the data that is important to you. If you value it assess it." @GholdyM
"The harm done by long-term exposure to injustice ... calls for more than a simple understanding of kindness. It demands that kindness be interwoven with substantial notions of true justice."

"Educators at every level must be willing to be uncomfortable in their struggle for black students, recognizing students’ power and feeding it by honoring their many contributions to our schools."

Implementing an anti racist approach can be a struggle. We might know what that term means, but I have found that not many of us know what that looks like in practice. So, I got to work and created a workbook for all of us. Yep, a whole book. https://t.co/7UNpQBS3Wf

@WEMTAOnline The only previously included titles featuring IBPOC, Birchbark House and Barbed Wire Baseball, are also historical. This is not ok. We need to do better. Our kids deserve better.
@WEMTAOnline I am disappointed in this revised list. When other educators called out the list for being too centered on whiteness (content and creators) I had hoped that more than 4 titles would be changed.
@WEMTAOnline 2 of the titles added focus on Black history and pain. Yes, that is important but when it is the only story being told, what message is that sending?
