Now answer the question you appear rather less enthusiastic about.

Why did YOUR department announce plans for up to 1,256 asylum seekers beside Piddington without consulting the local council beforehand?

Mahmood now concedes that residents have “legitimate concerns”.

My god, really?

A village has just voted 285–26 in symbolic protest against what is being imposed on its doorstep.

Yet instead of beginning with an explanation of how government allowed matters to reach this point, the Home Secretary reaches for the labels.

If Danny Thomas commits a crime, arrest him.

If Mahmood believes he has said something racist, show people exactly what she is referring to and let them judge it.

But calling somebody “far-right” or “racist” does not answer the substantive question:

Why were local people treated as an afterthought while Whitehall planned an asylum site completely disproportionate to the community beside it?

Perhaps the Home Secretary should spend rather less time labelling the people who are angry — and rather more time answering for the decisions that made them angry.

* E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m

* EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m

* People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it.

* People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore.

* People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills.

* People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt.

* Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud!

* Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday.

* Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!!

All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October...

THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits … I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others.

Something needs to change.

Why is customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us?

I am apocalyptically angry about Labour's plan to import thousands and thousands more fake 'refugees' - from Sudan, Eritrea and other third world dumps through 'safe' routes.

The answer is quite obviously NO.

Stopping this cannot wait until 2029. It will be too late.

I have written an open letter to the Home Secretary opposing it - I have requested support from Reform, Conservative, Northern Irish and independent MPs.

✍️ An Open Letter to Richard Hughes

Richard,

Liverpool supporters are not unreasonable. They understand football. They understand setbacks. What they struggle to accept is a full season of the same problems repeating with no visible solution.

That is where we are now.

Sunday’s draw with Tottenham felt less like a point gained and more like an indictment of everything that has gone wrong this year. Spurs arrived in disarray. Injuries everywhere. No league wins in 2026. A squad patched together with academy players. Yet Liverpool, at Anfield, produced a performance that was hesitant, shapeless and alarmingly toothless.

In truth, Liverpool were fortunate to leave with a draw.

This isn't about one afternoon. It's about a pattern.

Week after week, Liverpool dominate possession but rarely dominate the game. The attack lacks fluency. The midfield lacks authority. The defence collapses under late pressure. The same questions are asked after every match because the same issues appear every week.

At some point, responsibility must rest with the man in charge.

Arne Slot inherited world-class players. He inherited a club built on elite standards. Yet over the past year, the football has become slower, more predictable and increasingly ineffective. When almost every player looks worse than they did twelve months ago, the explanation is rarely individual failure.

It's coaching.

Managers are judged on their ability to solve problems. Liverpool’s problems have been obvious for months, and yet the solutions have never arrived.

That is why November matters so much.

At that point, the warning signs were already clear. Performances were deteriorating. Confidence was draining from the team. Many supporters, myself included, believed decisive action was needed before the season unravelled completely.

Instead, the message that came from the club was calm reassurance. We were told everything was under control. The now infamous roundtable video in February, featuring you alongside Slot, projected unity and confidence that the direction was correct.

But unity only works when the direction is right.

Looking back now, that moment feels less like leadership and more like hesitation. A chance to confront reality was replaced with a public show of faith that the evidence on the pitch simply did not support.

That decision sits with you.

You were rightly praised last summer. The recruitment looked ambitious and intelligent. Many fans backed you completely. Yet hindsight now suggests the squad balance has not worked, and the coach entrusted to guide it has struggled badly.

Supporters can accept mistakes.

What they cannot accept is pretending a mistake has not been made.

Liverpool still possess too much talent and too much history to accept a season where the football becomes this stagnant and the standards fall this far.

Leadership requires honesty.

Arne Slot has had time. He has had patience. He has had backing.

But the problems remain exactly the same.

Deep down, you may already know the conclusion. No new contract for Slot, suggests you do.

And if that is the case, Richard, Liverpool supporters are simply asking for one thing.

The courage to act on it. 🙏

This club was built on the foundations laid by those three, which is why it is where it is today - not just because of trophies, but because of what the club represents. The connection with life itself, quotes you could write books about, anecdotes, relationships with the fans, the local community, the global fanbase, and so on.

The three of them contributed the most to making Liverpool the very top of world football, to making it easy for us to identify with this club in so many life values, and to be proud of what the club stands for.

Other managers have helped Liverpool’s image at times and damaged it at others - and I don’t mean only through trophies.

Today, we have a man who delivered a Premier League title and will rightly go down in history for that. But unfortunately, everything he’s doing this season is dragging the club’s reputation down.

The same man who, after winning the title, said it was a huge achievement that Liverpool won two titles in five years, is now repeatedly stressing that there’s a reason the club has won only two titles in 30 years - seemingly to justify himself by dragging the club through the mud. Disgusting.

Today he even said that if we hadn’t been knocked out by PSG, we wouldn’t have won the Premier League because we had so many days to prepare for matches.

There have been many other gems - recently, when asked about young Calvin Ramsay, he said there are many better options ahead of him.
In general, he’s a man who doesn’t trust young players and constantly complains whenever he has to play one.

When you put it all together, over time he’s shown his true face: that he’s not right for this club, that he doesn’t know how to connect with the fans, how to build healthy relationships within the club and among players, how to develop and motivate young players, or how to understand the values Liverpool stands for - values that the club’s legendary managers understood perfectly.

Sack him. He's not the one to lead this football club.
