So glad we traded that awful Devers contract only to watch two older premier power bats sign for the same price.
It’s perfectly clear this team isn’t going over the $264M luxury-tax threshold.
Pathetic for a franchise that’s consistently top 5 in revenue.
BREAKING: First baseman Pete Alonso and the Baltimore Orioles are finalizing a five-year, $155 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Alonso leaves the Mets to make a loaded AL East even better.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is one of the Red Sox' top priorities at the @MLB Winter Meetings.
Yamamoto is expected to sign *after* Shohei Ohtani and before the end of the month.

Over the 15-year stretch during which they won four World Series, here were the Boston Red Sox's payroll ranks in those years: 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 1st.
Over the last four years, they have been under the CBT three times and their payroll this year is 11th.
But it was the GM's fault.
The deals that were available would have been massive overpays (due to more deadline buyers than sellers).
The Rays traded a top 100 prospect for Civale. Would you have been willing to trade someone like Rafaela for him?
You still need the right situation to make a deal.
@RedSoxDynasty_ Don’t make excuses for a team finishing last 3 outta the last 4 years, no real major moves and an absolutely dead fan base. Good job building a farm system but never actually doing anytnjng about it by moving pieces and bringing in star talent.
Competitive in the sense of being in a playoff race for most of the year.
This team never had championship aspirations not because of mismanagement of spending, but because of how much Chaim was allowed to spend.
The money isn’t coming out of his pocket; that’s on ownership.
Chaim came into a situation with a dead-last farm system, tasked with being the guy that had to trade Mookie, and was limited on money to spend.
He still built a competitive roster and brought our farm system into a top 5 in all of baseball.
And you're firing him?
"Yeah I would definitely recommend it... I had the time of my life playing here"
Mookie Betts reflects on playing in Boston and what he would tell other players considering playing for the Red Sox
"I thought I would be [in Boston], but negotiations didn't go the way we planned"
Mookie Betts says he'll leave it up to John Henry or Chaim Bloom to explain what happened leading up to being trade to the Dodgers 👀
Chaim Bloom on Wilyer Abreu back in March:
“Abreu, this guy… has power, really knows the strike zone. For a strong guy, he can move better out there then you think, runs pretty well, a guy who we think is going to be able to play all three outfield positions.”

Luis Urías is the first Red Sox player to hit a grand slam in back-to-back games played since Jimmie Foxx in 1940.
He's the first Red Sox No. 9 hitter to hit a grand slam against the Yankees since Luis Rivera hit one vs Jeff Robinson on Aug. 31, 1990.
