My favorite aspect of Dracula is that he is irredeemably evil.
Flesh-Eating Zombies? Not their fault.
The Frankenstein monster? He didn't ask to be made.
The Wolfman? Didn't choose his curse.
The Gillman? The humans came to HIS house.
(I admit the Phantom, Mummy, and Invisible Man were evil, though perhaps not irredeemably so.)
But Dracula is Just Plain Bad. This is why I hated Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, and now Luc Besson's Dracula. They tried to whitewash Dracula by adding a romance subtext and it's dumb. Leave the past-lives romance to the Mummy. Can we not have one single monster that is just plain evil?
Make Dracula Malignant Again.
The Villain (aka Cactus Jack) turns 47 today.
Shot like a live-action Looney Tunes, Kirk Douglas, Ann-Margret, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and a very clever horse gleefully defy physics and logic in this Wile E. Coyote-style western. They even do the painted-wall drive-through gag.
Rest in peace to John Blanche. The artist who defined Warhammer 40k. He was legitimately a visionary and creative genius.
Take today to look at his works, there's nothing else like them. A very sad day indeed.

Today would have been Roger Corman's 100th birthday. Happy birthday to my all-time favorite director/producer and a big inspiration of mine. Thank you for all the great movies.
Christ is risen from the dead, and with him, we too rise to new life! This Easter proclamation embraces the mystery of our lives and the destiny of history, reaching us even in the depths of death. #Easter
A great science fiction TV show that is unjustly obscure nowadays was Journey to the Bottom of the Sea, featuring the nuclear sub Seaview. The first season was mostly cold war shenanigans, but starting with the second season they moved into science fiction, and even fantasy.
There was a full-length movie before the TV show but the movie is dull and slow-moving. Skip it.
There's an episode with a gigantic undersea werewolf, one in which an old-time ghost galleon attacks the sub, and one in which Vincent Price uses ventriloquist puppets to replace crew members. It had a smaller "flying sub" which looked like a flying saucer and could both fly and dive, and it also had a mini-sub. This meant that unlike every other submarine, the Seaview was a ship, not a boat.
For those curious, the definition of a "ship" is a vessel which carries one or more boats. This is why all subs (save the Seaview) are actually boats.
I have never created a game with the idea that it would modify or affect my audience’s political or religious views. My only goal is to entertain. To bring joy and laughter - even if it’s rather nervous laughter in the case of my horror stuff. To bring people together. Then they can resolve their political & religious differences on their own.
Art should not be activism.
