PSA: When the price of gasoline jumps this week, remember it was refined from oil (mostly Canadian) produced weeks ago, only ~2% of which came from the Middle East. It's a policy choice, not 'market forces', that explains why you'll pay more (and oil profits will soar). /2
Let me be very clear. If bringing down the largest child sex trafficking ring in history will “collapse the world as we know it” then the world as we know it needs to collapse.
Let’s make one thing clear: Neither Mark Carney, Doug Ford, nor any other Canadian is to blame for the breakdown in Canada-U.S. relations. This is on Donald Trump, with his demand for submission, his instability, his contempt for allies, and his ever-changing demands. Canadians must stand together.
Please stop leaping to the conclusion that Trump can shred our Free Trade Agreement with the United States anytime his diseased fingers find Truth Social. CUSMA is not TP.
We’ve live streamed the genocide of Palestinians and watched people around us become disabled and die from covid infections and resulting conditions, so unfortunately I don’t have a ton of faith that we’ll somehow save the United States from increased militarization and murders.
@terrynewman I'm a boomer and the NWO bothers me, but not in the way you think. There is nothing nefarious behind Carney's statement. He's merely acknowledging reality: Trump's adoption of the Monroe Doctrine and other actions are creating a NWO, and his officials have said as much.
I’ll say it plainly: Mark Carney is the right person for this moment, and the people losing their minds about it are proving exactly why.
Canada is not weak. Canada does not “suck.” And we don’t need to burn our institutions to the ground because a loud minority is addicted to grievance politics.
No leader is ever going to align with 100% of your beliefs, and that expectation isn’t principled, it’s childish. What matters is competence, stability, and understanding how power, markets, and geopolitics actually work.
The nonstop “Canada is broken” rhetoric, born with the convoy and kept alive by Maple MAGA, is a gift-wrapped talking point for foreign interference. Undermine trust. Stoke resentment. Convince people their country isn’t worth defending. That’s the playbook.
I’m done pretending that constant cynicism is patriotism. It isn’t. It’s destabilizing, unserious, and embarrassingly easy to manipulate.
We don’t need louder outrage. We need adults who understand the stakes, and remember what it means to be Canadian.🍁
How embarrassing. Two and a half months ago, Poilievre was castigating PM Carney for not getting a deal with China. The PM gets a deal and Poilievre slams him again. Pierre is the king of grievance and only knows how to whine. Even while adults are fixing, he’s trying to destroy.
@bushontheradio My kids did not appreciate the idea of someone coming into our house while sleeping so we turned it into a consent conversation and left a blank key for Santa on our doorstep.
@MichelleRempel But you’re holding the liberals responsible for the actions of individuals - I’m beyond certain that if the shoe were on the other foot the tune would sound different and that the individuals would be heralded as brave by the same folks pedalling the ‘dirty’ narrative now.
Courting the fringe/far right - whipping up outrage and division- whataboutism and (bad) political theatre If the CCP wants to win they have to dump the fringe, change the language, move to the centre and stop using Trumpian language. True CDN Cons don’t align with it #cdnpoli
@sircatstock@CanadianPolling I said it to my parents just this weekend - the palatable leader with more centre right leaning (by Canadian standards) is Mark Carney. If the UCP had Doug ford as their leader they’d have a majority government. Embarrassing but true.
Ha! If folks didn’t believe in reactive
‘Party line’ and coordinated comments on social medial statements they should after reading all the I HEART POLLIEVRE posts in the last 24 hours 😂😂 #cdnpoli
